Stand Up Paddle Boarder Encounters Whale During Paddle   Jodie Nelson, who is a professional surfer and Stand Up Paddle boarder became the first woman to paddle the 39.8 miles from Catalina Island to Dana Point on March 29, 2010 on a stand up paddle board. Jodie completed the this incredible journey in 9 hours, one minute and 21 seconds. This was done in an effort to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and prevention. Jodie Nelson, who is a resident of San Clemente, California completed the nine hour paddle from Catalina Island to Dana Point Harbor on a stand up paddle board. The California Costal Commission Approves Dana Point Harbor Changes and the City Cuncil accepts changes to the revitalization plan.  The City Council unanimously gave initial approval to the Coastal Commission's suggested modifications and capped a process started more than a decade ago.  In October, Orange County got the green light to move forward with the proposed $140 million revitalization plan for the land side of Dana Point harvbor.  The biggest changes to the proposal involve the number of boat slips parking and shipyard size.  These changes have been on the County's list of things to do for more than 10 years.  The harbor is a 276.8 acre area that the County has spent $15.4 million on the preparation of the revitalization. Dana Point at Strand Beach opened what some called an elevator but it goes on an incline not up and down and therefore is a funicular.  The Dana Point funicular was funished and is now runing people from the parking area down the bluff to the beach.  Dana Point has the new over pass and the renovations of bathrooms as well as the funicular.  The city is really making it easier to enjoy the city and the beach. 12/27/2009
