DON'T GET YOUR TINSEL IN A TANGLE   Take a lot of deep breaths and try these tips for diffusing holiday drama:   Identify in advance who and what will push your buttons We all have “hot spots” that family members and old friends tend to push. The key is to identify these buttons before the holidays because, chances are, they will get pushed… perhaps even pounded on. Establish your “sane connection” This is the holiday version of the buddy system. Enlist a friend from home or a family member that will be available to you when things get stressful or start to go south. Have a plan to reach them by phone or Skype if needed. This person has the lifeline when it’s time to pull you back to shore. Less is more Whether it is alcohol, gift giving, or the length of time you entertain guests, g...

Productivity Points 5 Ways to Spend Your Lunch Hour SUCCESS Magazine recently asked several entrepreneurs from the Young Entrepreneur Council to share how they get more out of their lunch hour each day. Here are five of their answers. 1. Unplug completely. When you give yourself a break to clear your head, you'll feel more energized and may get fresh ideas. Changing gears with a book, a funny podcast or inspiring interview can also help refresh your perspective, especially on hectic days. 2. Step away from the computer. While you eat, give yourself some quiet time to write down goals, update your to do list, or plan task completion. This can ensure you finish the day strong. 3. Watch something educational. Instead of trying to multitask with a working lunch, hit rewind and watch a vid...

Dia de los Muertos      El Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. This is a joyous occasion when the memory of deceased ancestors and the after life is celebrated. It is believed that at this time the souls of the departed return to visit the living, as well as bring good luck to their families. It is a time to remember family and friends who have died. It is a very colorful and joyful occasion.   Traditions are celebrated by the families visiting gravesites, where they clean and decorate the graves with flowers, food, candles, colorful skulls and toys. Confluence of Positive Trends.  A good Read...   Jobs, low mortgage rates, and improving inventory are bolstering home sales. September 2014 | By Lawrence Yun       After a slow start this year, partly due to the frigidly cold winter, home sales are picking up steam. Existing-home sales have risen for four straight months and in July were at the highest pace of the year, 5.15 million. Pending contracts point to more gains, too. Jobs are always important for home sales, and in the last 12 months they’ve grown by 2.6 million. North Dakota, Texas, Utah, and parts of California are good examples of job growth leading to healthy real estate activity. Amazingly, mortgage rates refuse to rise, even after the Federal Reserve has started talking about tightening its monetary policy, keeping the ...

What is Your Dana Point Property Worth Today?    Dana Point is a city located in southern Orange County, California. The population was 33,351 at the 2010 census. It has one of the few harbors along the Orange County coast, and with ready access via State Route 1, it is a popular local destination for surfing. The city was named after the headland of Dana Point, which was in turn named after Richard Henry Dana, Jr., author of Two Years Before the Mast, which included a description of the area. Dana described the locale, including neighboring San Juan Capistrano, as "the only romantic spot on the coast".  Although Dana described the anchorage as poor, it is now a developed harbor and contains a replica of his ship, the Pilgrim. The Pilgrim is used as a classroom by the Ocean Institute, w...

Dana Point Real Estate   Welcome to Dana Point!  This very quaint, beach community was incorporated in 1989, and  the City of Dana Point is named after Richard Henry Dana Jr. (1815-1882), a Harvard-trained lawyer, seaman, and author of the classic sea journal, Two Years Before the Mast (1840). In his journal, Dana documents his voyage from Boston around Cape Horn to California on the merchant ship, Pilgrim. Therein, Dana describes the area once known as Capistrano Bay, as “the most romantic spot in California.” Today, Capistrano Bay is known as Dana Point.  Also, part of Dana Point is called Capistrano Beach.  The homes are much more affordable and eclectic than the norther part of Dana Point Real Estate but there are some really nice bea...

Is now a good time to sell my Dana Point home? It really depends on what’s going on in the homeowner’s life. Your personal needs and desires take precedence over trying to time the market. If the conditions in your life are such that you want to sell or need to sell, then there certainly is no reason to wait. In fact, this is the best time to sell that we’ve seen in years.  What is My Dana Point Home Worth Today? Here are a few reasons why it might be a good time to sell your home in Dana Point: Inventory of Homes is Down There are fewer homes for sale in almost every housing market across the country. Much of the foreclosure and short sale inventory has worked its way through the market and sellers won’t be competing with low priced distressed sales. Low inventory means less overall co...
