Sink Materials Sinks can be made from materials such as: Stainless steel - very durable and most popular Porcelain – typically constructed from vitreous white china Acrylic – scratch resistant, and can be painted in customized colors Cast iron – old fashioned and least expensive material, can show rust and signs of wear.  May be coated with...

The Gem show in Del Mar has over 50 booths to browse and several have great bargains, especially if you like to make jewelry. There are also a few booths that have different kinds of gems in their natural forms if you are a gemologist and also a booth that has mounted butterflies and other interesting finds, if you are a budding entomologist. They also have a booth where you can get your jewelry cleaned and/or repaired “while you wait.” It really is a fun outing for a Sunday! Located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the hours today are between 10am and 5pm; the admission is $7 and the parking is $10. The great part is your ticket stub allows you to go to the next Gem show in March for free!

Wow...big disparity today with the Employment report!  Against a consensus forecast of 200K jobs added, we only ended up adding 74K jobs in November. This was the smallest monthly increase in jobs since January, 2011. Given that several labor market indicators showed greater strength in December, some economists feel that bad weather was a major factor in the shortfall, as the construction sector was particularly weak. Start saving now!  You will need to save money for the following types of home buying expenses:•    Credit report fee•    Earnest money deposit (EMD)•    Total down payment•    Home inspections•    Appraisal•    Closing costs Here are some creative ways you can come up with cash: Savings account.  Start saving a portion of your paycheck automatically every month with payroll deduction.  Your local credit union can help you set this up. Gift from your parents — a certain amount may be tax deductible.  Again, this is NOT a loan, it would be a gift.  (However, there may be strings attached: your parents may want to help you select the house.) Bonus or commission from your job.  Either a year-end bonus or a one-time bonus will really help.  Sock it away and resist the temptation to spend it...

Banner day for mortgage interest rates yesterday! The Fed Statement yesterday was a creatively worded way of saying "our bad" from previous statements (mainly in June) about the economy. Mortgage pricing improved over 100 basis points in a matter of minutes following the "no tapering" verbiage and continued to soar up until the final bell. This daily mortgage interest rate report is designed to provide Borrowers & Real Estate Profesionals with factual data regarding where rates are at any given time and what trends are propelling current mortgage pricing on any given day. The roller coaster ride continues! Weaker than expected employment data was bad news for the economy, but good for mortgage rates. The Unemployment Rate declined from 7.4% to 7.3%, however it was due to consumers dropping out of the labor force rather than job gains. The labor force participation rate dropped to its lowest level since 1978. The market improved initially on this news, but has declined (rapidly) ever since. See charts below for details...
