Short Sales Become the Norm After reading an article on MSNBC about short selling homes throughout the United States I found some of the facts very interesting. Here in Southern California, San Diego County to be exact we have been hit with many foreclosures and more and more homeowners that need to sell but owe more money on their home than what they can sell it for are choosing the short sale option. Right now in our office we are handling over 40 short sales in San Diego County, some in the Chula Vista Area as well and homeowners are optimistic but realistic about their short sale options. Banks move slow in this short sale procedure and are inundated with short sales form many of their mortgage holders in all 50 states. If anyone needs to be taught a lesson in patience it's having c...

WHAT KIND OF INSURANCE IS BEST FOR ME?If you’ve read any of our other reports, you’ll know that even though insurance has been part of our culture for over 100 years, to most people – It’s still a just a mystery.  And because they don’t understand it, a lot of people think they’re being “ripped off” by the Insurance Industry; aka “The Club”I want to end that for you. I'm an industry "insider":  A licensed member of “The Club”I’ve been inside the insurance business for over 30 years and I know it like the back of my hand: From policy to claims and back again.I've sold insurance.   I've studied it.   I've discovered what makes "good insurance" -- and what makes "bad insurance".  I know that not all insurance is "created equal".  Life insurance is certainly no exception. Placing all your c...

Foreclosures McCain Obama ClintonI read an article on CNNMoney.com entitled "Housing: Where the Candidates Stand" dated March 28th 2008. This article was very informative in showing how the presidential candidates stand on the housing crisis in America. I think by the time the election is over and the transition in the White House is complete most of the housing problems and foreclosures will be more than half way through the cycle. At that rate any legislation to stop foreclosures will be much too little too late. I'm not sure how fair it would be to bail out 2 million home owners when 2 million others lost their homes and are now renting with a short sale or foreclosure on their credit. It might be a mute point where the candidates stand on the housing troubles but here they are and th...

NEW HANDS-FREE CELL PHONE LAW IS EFFECTIVE 7/1/08. California finally catches up to what's safe and realistic by enforcing a requirement to use cell phones while operating a motor vehicle with either a wireless or "wired" ear piece.  Soon we'll all look like Spock and Lieutenant Uhura from Star Trek with those funny "listening devices" protruding from our ears. You can check out the Official FAQ's at the California Department of Motor Vehicles website, but here's my personal spin. There will be no grace period.  That sounds like really bad news, but it doesn't count as a "real ticket" and the fine for the first offense is only $20. If you're under 18, you can't talk on the phone AT ALL while driving.   This includes talking AND texting.  HOORAY!  (interestingly, the law doesn't specifica...

A client called me yesterday with an interesting dilemma. Said that recently, when his car was parked on the street, it was hit by a Fire Truck on a call. Kind of unusual as Fire Truck Drivers are usually pretty good at what they do.Nevertheless, he was concerned because on the same side of the car there was some damage from a prior accident and wanted to see if he could get that fixed at the same time. He also wanted to make sure the paint matched the rest of the car. So here's the advice I offered to Steve. The insurance company is only going to pay for the damage that was a direct result of the accident caused by the Fire Truck. Nothing more, nothing less.Your best bet is to make a deal with the body shop OUTSIDE of the parameters of the insurance company settlement. Here's why.Anytim...

El Cajon REO Listings Excellent Buying Opportunity by Whissel RealtyThe number of home foreclosures in California is at an all-time high.  When a bank is forced to foreclose on a home, they often end up taking the home back at the foreclosure sale and becoming the new owner.  These homes are referred to as bank owned foreclosures or REOs.  REO is an acronym for Real Estate Owned (by a bank).  Owning a foreclosed home can be very costly and time consuming for the bank.  They typically want to sell these homes as quickly as possible to get them off of their balance sheet.  As a result, they are often priced below market value.  This has created a great buying opportunity for home buyers and investors looking to purchase these REO listings. On March 21st, 2008 Whissel Realty closed escrow...

Yesterday we talked about a couple of ideas to better organize your desk and your daily activities.  Today I'd like to talk about a way to organize your brain and free up large pieces of your life! Fortunately / Unfortunately we live in a very EVERYTHING's AVAILABLE kind of world.  There's television, CD's, MP3 Players, the internet, email, evite, ecards,...  well, I could on and on and on.   We also live in the LAND OF PLENTY where we can just about have and/or do anything we really want to do.  Want to go sailing?  Horseback riding?  Hot air balloon?  Dinner, movies, (either at the movies, w/ a DVD or PayPerVIew or on your computer or iPod). With all this choice comes lots of fun.  It's also laden with GOOD OLD FASHIONED OVERLOAD. It's hard to keep track of all the things you can do, ...
