The Assistance League of Sierra Foothills presents their 5th Annual - Gardens of the Hills Tour! Saturday, May 3, 2014  10am-5pm Sunday, May 4, 2014  10am-5pm This year the tour will include eight gardens - five in El Dorado Hills and three in Shingle Springs.   Bad Repairs Can Even Happen In Million Dollar Homes   As the woman on the phone was describing to me her situation, I knew exactly what she was talking about. I've seen it many time before in all sorts of Serrano homes. The repairs that were done, needed to be done again just 2 years later.   The repairs were to satisfy a termite report when the couple bought the place. The dry rot repair in El Dorado Hills met the requirement – remove and replace with like materials. The problem is that if you do not solve the problem, it will return.   There was dry rot at the bottom of the door jamb, it was cut out and patched. The El Dorado Hills Egg Hunt is on for this Saturday, April 19th, but this year it will be in a new location - Promontory Community Park off Sophia Parkway on Alexandra Way.  Besides the egg hunt there will be Arts and Crafts and a visit from the Easter Bunny.  The Egg Hunt starts at 10am SHARP!   Too Much Weight or Just a Warped Post?     This really caught my eye because I know that the deck was very heavy and the spam between the posts was too far apart. Maybe it was just a matter of the board warping but it didn’t look right. If it were my house, I’d replace it either way; a warped post is not as strong as a straight one!

I started posting pictures in October of Folsom Lake with anticipation of our winter season doing it's job to refill the lake as it usually does.  Unfortunately we have had had only a small fraction of our normal rainfall. Here are a few Folsom Lake Pictures from January 25, 2014.  The view of the lake is from Highland View where I live.  The other pictures are of the South Fork of the American River.  This whole area is normally part of the lake and filled with water.  The bouy usually marks a low wake zone for boaters.  Other posts with resent pictures of Folsom Lake: Folsom Lake Revealed - December 29, 2013

It sold for $235,000, the only one out of our 59 home sales under $300,000. Our days without rain are up to 49 and counting in the Sacramento Valley and according to the weather stations there is still no rain in site for at least the next 10 days.  I have lived in El Dorado Hills since 1996 and have never seen Folsom Lake so low. I've heard it is down to 18% capacity. We are in trouble! Though Folsom Lake doesn't provide the water we use in El Dorado Hills, our reservoirs are feeling the drought as well and residents have been asked by our El Dorado Irrigation District for voluntary water conservation.   Here are a 7 easy things we can do to conserve our precious resource: 1. The real estate market in El Dorado Hills saw a huge turn around as you will see here with the following Trendgraphix graphs.
