The Eagle Ridge Golf Community, located in Gilroy, CA had its first residents moving in by late 1999.  That is about the time I first visited Eagle Ridge, and my wife and I immediately really liked the area and decided to move here.   We waited for offerings in the fourth phase, and they had a lottery, which we were fortunate enough to be picked to get one of 22 homes offered that day.  That was in April, 2000.  There were originally 150 people on the waiting list for homes, but it had dropped to about 65 on the day of the lottery, as some people apparently felt the odds were against them.  At the time, there were less than 200 residents living here, and there were suppose to be roughly 800 homes when Eagle Ridge was built out.  Since acquiring additional land, which is now where the Cr... 06/14/2012

In a constant state of improvement, with the old going out and in with the new, Gilroy's downtown keeps getting better with new stores and restaurants.  There are also som enew offie buildings and condo that have been built. Downtown Gilroy straddles both sides of Montrey St., pretty much between 3rd Street and 8th Street.  Besides many shops anbd restaurants, there are a few office buildings and the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce is located there as well.  Eagle Ridge Realty has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for over 10 years. Mike Cooper wrote a post about holding a house open, and with other agents holding open houses, they pooled their resources and bought some advertising, which leveraged their respective open houses.  I thought this was a great idea. I had an ideaa few years back, when it all started hitting the fan, that I'd like to share.  We had a few REO brokers take listings in my neighborhood.   They all lived about an hour away, so I called them and offered my services to hold it open for them.  They agreed. Jack's Overhead Door is a repair shop and installer of garage doors.  He has been around Gilroy for quite a while, and I cannot give them enough kudos.  I had had an electric opener for my garage door spring replaced, and was happy with the service.  So, when my electric motor on my garage door seemed broken, I called the guy who replaced the spring and he claimed I needed a new motot and opening assmbly.  Cost:  about $500.00.  I had a few days to wait, as he had to pick one up from his wholesaler.  So, me being curious, I dug into the system myself.  What I found was the gear spindle was slightly bent, causing the chain to jump off the gear at the motor itself.  I took it out and could see that it was bent.  Problem solved-- I just needed the part.So, I went to my old guy's cross town... 06/06/2012
