Glendora High School Graduation 2012 Okay, so Glendora is an amazing city and a beautiful place to live.  There are trees everywhere and it is nestled in the foothills like the other cities I cover.  From beautiful views, to Citrus Colleges and local public schools with high test scores, it is certainly a place to consider when moving to the area. On wednesday, June 6th Glendora High School held it's graduation ceremonies atCitrus College Football Stadium.  Goodness, they had 550 graduating seniors this time around.  That's an amazing percentage of kids who actually made it through to graduate.  Congratulations to the teachers who worked so hard to see this happen! I personally know just how hard those teachers work.  I went to Glendora schools up through junior high as it was called th...

Glendora Concerts AND Movies in the Park 2012 Okay, so it's almost summertime again!  Schools out, the kids are bored and we have to figure out what to do with everyone on a budget, especially in this economy.  The City of Glendora has some great suggestions for you and your family to enjoy!  Concerts AND Movies in Finkbiner Park! I grew up at Finkbiner Park which was named after a long-time Mayor in Glendora, Joe Finkbiner.  I remember him from my childhood.  He was always such a nice guy, saying hello to a little kid like me.  Finkbiner park in Glendora has a great bandshell on one side of the huge park where they have the concerts and other events.   The bandshell is memorable to me because my oldest daughter Gracie was getting married and I was a single mom.  Finding a nice space fo...

The Best Dentist in Glendora Okay, so some of you know that I had an infected wisdom tooth pulled last week.  It's still killing me still and today is day nine! This started about two weeks ago when I had throbbing pain in my jaw.  It was really late that day, but the Best Dentist in Glendora, Joe Geleris let me scoot on in.  They determined that my wisdom tooth was impacted.  But when they called the oral surgeon, he couldn't get me in for a few days.  Last Thursday, it was pulled and yep, I was awake for it! But back to today's story...  So today since I am still in mucho pain, instead of calling the oral surgeon back, I called Joe Geleris, my dentist.  You can find him HERE if you need a really good one.  Joe's website (the link provided above) is called "Glendora Family Dental".  An...

GLENDORA REAL ESTATE MARKET WATCH - May 13-19, 2012    Market Watch       New Listing (19)   Price Change (13)   Back On Market (7)   Backup Offer (12)   Expired (1)   Pending (12)   Sold (4)       Okay, so this is another exciting week for real estate in Glendora.  Let me stress it, NINETEEN new listings and four sold.  As you can tell, the homes are getting sold and the inventory is shrinking.  So if you are thinking of buying a home, it's time before they all get gobbled up.  There have been quite a few articles recently about low amounts of homes for sale in certain areas.  And even more articles about bidding wars being back.  So if you are thinking of selling your home, well the laws of supply and demand come into play.  Lower supply, larger demand raises those home prices just a ...

A Glendora Icon Has Passed - RIP Mark in the Park Okay, so growing up in Glendora, CA was such a HUGE blessing.  I can't even tell you what a difference a community makes in people's lives.  In fact it's taken me about a week to write this post and I'm still very emotional about it. Sometime in my elementary school days, you know, about the time you start to REALLY remember things, I met a guy around town named Mark.  He was everywhere and knew everyone.  He knew your parents, he knew your kids, and I don't believe Mark ever knew a stranger. and if he didn't want to know you, he wanted to. Some people didn't know how to take Mark exactly.  He would just come up and stand there looking at you and waiting for you to say something.  You see, Mark had suffered some brain damage from oxygen...

Glendora Real Estate Market Watch - April 17-23, 2012 Market Watch       New Listing (17)   Price Change (11)   Back On Market (11)   Backup Offer (9)   Expired (1)   Pending (13)   Sold (14)   Okay, so here are Glendora Real Estate Market statistics for this week - and they seem to be shooting up! This week there are 17 new listings in the city.  Fourteen sold this week in Glendora, and that number seems to be growing by leaps and bounds.  Thirteen went into escrow which means that in approximately 30-60 days we should have 13 more that sold.  Looks like the Glendora Real Estate Market is starting to move and shake. (A HA, move and sahke, get it, California, earthquakes...!  LOL) Eleven homes were also placed back on the market and nine have moved into back up status.  Usually the home...

It is recommended by Dentists that we have a checkup once or twice a year.  Some people avoid going to the dentists because of the expense, and some avoid going because of fear but here is the thing, if you don’t have a checkup soon, you will pay for an expensive treatment later.  So make that appointment NOW.  Glendora Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome New Vision Dental formerly known as Smile Bright Dental to the community.  So please support the event. DATE: Tuesday March 20, 2012 TIME: 8:30 A.M. LOCATION: 1814 E. Route 66 Suite B Glendora, CA (Starbucks and Stater Bros. shopping center) Since dental hygiene contributes to your overall general health, why not pay your dentist a visit!  It is worth the effort. Link to more information: ribbon cuttin...

Glendora Real Estate Market Watch - March 9-16, 2012   Market Watch       New Listing (13)   Price Change (12)   Back On Market (5)   Backup Offer (6)   Expired (3)   Pending (14)   Sold (6)     Okay, so here are Glendora Real Estate Market statistics for this week - and they seem interesting! This week there are thirteen new listings, which seems like an amazing start for this peak selling time of the year.  Tis the season and all that!  Six sold this week in Glendora, and that's an okay number when compared with the amount of new listings. It simply means that twice as many are coming on the market for sale as are actually getting sold.   Fourteen went into escrow which means that in approximately 30-60 days we should have fourteen more that sold.  Looks like the Glendora Real Estate ...

This week there are 14 new listings which is a good sign that people are getting more and more confident in the real estate market.  Six sold and three went into escrow.  That's six homes that have new owners and three that will hopefully in a few weeks.  So home sales are happening in Glendora.    World Famous Donut Man, Located in Glendora, CA Okay, so when I was younger, I used to have a friend who loved Donut Man in Glendora where I grew up.  We would sneak out of the house in the middle of the night (she lived around the corner) since they were open 24/7 and grab a donut or two... a lady never tells how many!  My Momma (who is wonderful) always brings me one on my birthday, it's become a tradition. Since that time, Donut Man has been featured on The Food Network, The Huffington Post and been written up in the LA Times just to mention a few.  Their strawberry and (my favorite) peach donuts are simply to die for! So I've taken the liberty of posting the (HOW TO) make Peach Donutsfrom YouTube and Huell Howser's visit to the Donut Man for your enjoyment.  Simply click on these...

2011 Glendora Christmas Parade Okay, so when I was growing up in Glendora, it was a small, tigh-knit community of like 25,000 people or so.  And the town would have these great events in "The Village" like the Flasback to the 50's sock hop and carnival, the Christmas Stroll and Christmas Parade, the Homecoming Parade, etc. You get the Idea.  Almost the entire town turned out for these fun events and you were guaranteed to see friends and neighbors and school mates. Today, I'm so glad to say, it's still the same.  The population has more than doubled in size coming really close to 50,000 residents. There are people from every church, school, neighborhood, etc that come out and really make this town a community of friends and family even with the increase in size.  Over the years, the pa...

My grandmother used to say “The only thing on the news these days is Bad News” that was nearly 40 years ago…She refused to watch the evening news as she grew older.  I understand now what she was doing, and why.  Although the negative then was not as Epic as the negative now she kept  informed with the important things in life but protected all of us from the negative outlook on life according to the evening news reporter. We can all take a lesson from my grandmother on that topic. I don’t think anyone in America has escaped a daily update on America’s Imploding Status…From the National Debt of $14 Billion Plus to the fact there are over 1.9  million mortgage loans being 90 plus days late with 42 percent of those homeowners not making a mortgage payment for over a year…icing on the cake...
