One of the best "Guy Movies" of all time...Up there with "Rudy". Well, I guess we all have to cash in some time.   If you list it, will they come? The Lansing family hopes so. The Des Moines Register is reporting that the Iowa site where the 1980 movie “Field of Dreams” was shot, is on the market for $5.4 million. Included in the price is the actual movie site which includes the baseball field, a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath house (and yes, that familiar front porch), surrounding farmland, two souvenir stands and six farm buildings — a total of 193 acres. Maybe the movie’s star, Kevin Costner, needs a place to retire?

Finally, good news about the Hollywood Sign which was facing removal by a developer to build homes. This video and article was retrieved from ABC Los Angeles News...HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- The fog lifted over the Hollywood sign on Monday morning, and so have all the doubts about the future of the land surrounding it. Playboy founder Hugh Hefner came to the rescue, donating nearly $1 million to save the Hollywood sign from urban sprawl. "All of us here who love the sign, and those who admire it from around the world, say hats off to Hugh for keeping the dream alive on Mount Lee," said Hollywood Sign Trust Chairman Chris Baumgart. The Hollywood sign is located on the southern side of Mount Lee in Griffith Park. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger joined city officials to announce the news, end...

Street is a casual and unpretentious restaurant owned and operated by Celebrity Chef - Susan Feniger.  Susan is warm and friendly and obviously passionate about the food she serves. It's rare to see a celebrity chef take time to mingle with the restaurant guests, discussing the food and restaurant. But Susan does and her excitement about what she does is wonderfully evident. Street's menu is eclectic and unusual, featuring "Street Food" from various places around the world that Susan's visited. My favorite dish was the "Kaya Toast" (from Singapore) - toasted bread spread thick with coconut jam, served with a soft fried egg drizzled in dark soy and white pepper. The taste is unique and delicious. I also loved the "Argentine Ricotta Noquis" (from the Italian district in Buenos Aires) - s...

In February this year the Hollywood Sign was covered with letters to read: SAVE THE PEAK. This was part of a campaign to raise the funds needed to purchase The Cahuenga Peak - the land surrounding the Hollywood Sign. The purpose of purchasing the land by the Trust for Public Land was to prevent any building on the Cahuenga Peak which would otherwise spoil the iconic setting of the Hollywood sign. The deadline set to raise $12,500,000 was Wednesday April 14, 2010. By Tuesday April 13, 2010 (with 1 day, 6 hours and 30 minutes to go), the Trust for Public Land's website indicated that only $9,632,952 had been raised. This is a shortfall of $2,867,408 needed to buy the land. What surprised me is that no major Hollywood studio has stepped forward to make up this shortfall! After all, the sig...

Over the last few years there has been alot of controversy concerning the fate of the Hollywood sign and the Cahuenga Peak land that surround it, so I thought I would provide an update with a bit of history. Image via Wikipedia Over the last few years there has been alot of controversy concerning the fate of the Hollywood sign and the Cahuenga Peak land that surround it,  so I thought I would provide an update with a bit of history. The Hollywood sign is an international icon of the entertainment industry. I've always been a huge fan of the Hollywood sign, in large part due to the nostalgic symbolism. It represents an era of larger than life personalities, opulent lifestyles, wonderful architecture and an amazingly complex town. What's ironic, in light of the situation today, is that th...

What about Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur in the "In Memoriam" tribute to well known Hollywood Stars? I think the 2010 Academy Award Production was an excellent show and I congratulate Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin for the terrific job they did as the hosts. I also salute all the winners in the various categories. Of special note (I think) was Kathryn Bigelow for being the first woman to win the "Best Director" for "The Hurt Locker". I though it was fitting that her award was presented by Barbra Streisand. But what disappointed me was the glaring omission of Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur in the "In Memoriam" tribute.

Help Save The View of The Hollywood Sign and The Land Surrounding It The world famous Hollywood Sign and the natural landscape surrounding it is one of the most popular and well recognized iconic views of Los Angeles. "It represents Los Angeles, the entertainment industry, and the Southern California way of life". Cahuenga Peak, a 138-acre parcel of land behind and to the west of the Hollywood Sign was slated for development. The land was put on the market about two years ago with a price tag of $22 Million. Fortunately, plunging real estate prices hindered a sale and the land was not sold. This week The Trust for Public Land (a national non-profit land conservation organization) secured an option to purchase the land for $12.5 Million and has until April 14, 2010 to raise the funds nee...
