Ione Real EstateIone is, by California standards, a small town, but even within that Ione has neighborhoods and developments with different history and charm. Coming from Sacramento, you might not notice it but you come past Eagles Nest, a development centered on pilots, with a community airfield and taxiways to most of the properties. If you are one of the highflying set but want to live in the foothills, yet close to the city, Eagles Nest might be just the place for you.As you get closer to Bedbug as Ione was once known, you catch glimpses… Come read the rest Here.

Somehow I missed the grand opening of this fun local spot, but I’ve remedied that now. Clark's Corner on Main Street, just kitty-corner to the police office opened and is now serving! If you are looking for a great place to meet with your local group or meet some new friends over a cup of Joe, Clarks Corner is the spot. Being touted as a “third place” the "first place" being the home and the "second place" being the workplace, Clark's Corner is more than a coffee House. Soon, live music will be available. Rumor has it that a wine and beer permit is in the works, and local groups and clubs are finding this to be a fine new place to hold events. Drop in and see for yourself how Clark's Corner is more like a community center. Clark's Corner is about the connections we have to our friends, ...

A great game I like to play when thinking about real estate and the future is to dream about your ultimate abode. Sure this might never happen but this is the right time to put these thoughts together. For me these are a few of the things I dream of. First the building site, I want to be here in the rolling hills or Amador County, specifically Jackson Valley, below Lake Amador, This area has a good selection of five to ten acre parcels (although they don’t come on the market very often) with gentle progressively higher hills stacking up from a wide low valley with a year round stream wandering down the middle. Studded with oaks and waving grass. The perfect spot would be on the second rise from the road, on the North side of the valley, this will give privacy, a great longer view of th...

Yes, during the days of the Gold Rush, the miners knew this town by the names of "Bedbug" and "Freezeout." But the Name Ione, believed to have been given by Thomas Brown (after one of the heroines in Edward Bulwer Lytton's drama "The Last Days of Pompeii.") finally stuck. Unlike many other communities in Amador County, which were founded on gold mining, Ione was a supply center, stage and rail stop and an agricultural hub.The first school was built in 1853. The historic Methodist Church was organized in 1853 and the structure was completed in 1862. The first flour mill was built in 1855. The first brick building was built by Daniel Stewart in 1855 for his general merchandise store and is still owned and operated by the same family. At the time of the National centennial of 1876, Ione had...
