Have you heard:"Congratulations on your acceptance to the Paul Merage School of Business at UCI.  This will be the most exciting two years of your life!" - Paul Merage School of Business Admissions OfficeWhile at the same time hearing:  "Congratulations on your acceptance to UCI.  There is a two year wait for on-campus housing for graduate students.  Sign here on the waiting list and we'll let you know if something becomes available for you." - UC Irvine Housing Office  This was my experience when I was accepted to the UCI MBA program in 2000.  After the initial elation of my acceptance worn off, reality set in and I asked myself "where am I going to live?", "can I afford it?", and "where do I start?".  Having graduated from the program in 2002 and still living and working in the surrou...

IRVINE FORECLOSURES AND IRVINE SHORT SALESIrvine currently has approximately 600 homes in some stage of foreclosure. The state of foreclosure ranges from an NOD (notice of default) when the owner is behind on the loan payments all the way to the final stage know as the "notice of trustee's sale" when the lender is calling for the sale of the home.A portion of these homes in the foreclosure stage are offered for sale. Yeah, that's right. Eco-friendly in more ways then you may be ready for. Here in Orange County we don't have enough rain water or local mountain springs to sustain our not so efficient population and lifestyle. I've heard that as much as 30% of the counties municipal electric bill is spent pumping needed water to us from other states. I'll get to the bottom of that sooner or later, but for now, it's obvious that there's a lot of waste and old school thinking going on. This new car washing company uses 1 pint of water to wash an entire car. Yes! One Pint. That's one Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, one glass of beer or two cups of coffee. Quite a bit better than the estimated 782 pints of water that an average car wash needs to get the job done, don't you agree? While Orange Countians happily ...

Tonight I decided to take my wife on a weekend getaway to Seattle. I got inspired by watching a show on the food network"Giada's weekend getaway". She visited Seattle and I thought since I've never visited this place I should go. So, it's about 1am in the morning and I'm not sleeping but blogging. Go figure...So being a Realtor in California, I naturally will look at the real estate here in Seattle. I always wanted to invest in real estate out here, but never had the inside scoop. Does anybody out there know the Seattle market well enough to let me know where to look(neighborhood) while i'm here for the weekend?Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If not real estate, then just some really good restaurants to visit!!!Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!Maxwww.SoCalAvalar.com

I was up tonight checking my emails as usual on my IPhone. I realize how much technology is part of our lives now. I can't not live without my Iphone by my side. Case and point. I was showing a home the other day to my client, while drivng down the street they asked about a home that had a sign on it. Now usually, I would have had to go back to my office and pull all the information on the home from our local MLS. But now, all i do is pull out my handy IPhone and connect to the MobileMLS and instantly I have the info for my clients! My clients are so impressed with my level of service. Do you feel the same about your mobil device? And those who use Palm, are you happy with the level of technology that it gives? I do know that Palm devices have the capability to use as a EKey (one of th...

Hello everyone. I thought that I would start off my first blog talking about my grand opening of my new office here in Irvine California. I am a franchise owner of the Avalar network. My brokerage is called SoCal Avalar Real Estate. Here is a picture of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony held by the City of Irvine on February 22nd.   That's me in the middle with the big smile!!!We had the Councilmember from the city to welcome us in and it was so much fun. Afterwards, we went inside where we had a Jazz Band that was playing some really good music for us. The Jazz Band is actually part of the Academy Awards Band!!!. We had beautiful decor and food to go along with the perfect night. We had about 150 realtors come and join the festivities. The agents that came were from local real estate office ...
