La Mesa, CA Real Estate News

By Randy Nathan
(Greenpath Funding)
La Mesa is a city within the general San Diego area. It has its own excellent school district and police department. You could say La Mesa has its own cultural vibe. With the median home price starting at $566,900. This is slightly more affordable than the City of San Diego and the median rent is $2645/month. With the rent being this high you may want to consider buying and locking in your house payment for the next 30 years. My favorite places to visit in La Mesa is Lake Murray. I have spent many hours walking around this beautiful and picturesque urban lake. People come to this lake to walk, fish, feed the ducks and varied birds just enjoy the natural beauty. Minutes from Lake Murray is Mission Trails Park. With over 5,800 acres of rural land with rugged hills and canyon, it’s is the...

If you live in San Diego but rarely venture east of the 805, or if you’re considering a move to the San Diego area, here are some reasons you might just want to take a look at La Mesa before making your next move.   1. Location, location, location!   La Mesa is just 9 miles from downtown San Diego and has easy access to Interstate 8, Hwy 94 and the 125, meaning you can be most anywhere in central San Diego, or the beach, in just minutes. You will also find all your favorite stores such as Macy’s, Target, Staples, Walmart, Trader Joes and Best Buy in and around Grossmont Shopping Center.   2. Character and charm. Tired of cookie cutter communities? La Mesa Village straddles La Mesa Blvd and offers a quaint combination of restaurants, bars, antique stores, art galleries and many other uni...

After speaking to my wife we decided to see what could hurt in checking where we would stand. Long story short Mike went from showing a couple of properties with   no pre approval yet to assisting us with the approval process all the way to being there to assist with any questions on signing escrow paperwork for our first house. I can appreciate the honesty and the commitment he has shown me and my family. I have already begun to refer him to co workers and friends. Definitely somebody I will keep in touch...

If you’ve been in San Diego for awhile, you’ve probably heard of Mt. Helix….even if you consider it too far east to be civilized. It is easily recognizable by the large cross that stands at the summit of what is now a privately owned and managed park and amphitheater. It has a colorful history involving an initial foreclosure purchase back in 1903, citrus and avocado groves, and the beginning of a small artist colony following the first road through the area in 1913. But what you might not know is that Mt. Helix is one of the best places to live in San Diego County, and here is why -  Lots are generally larger than average, many an acre or more -  Almost all homes are custom builds from the ‘50s – 60’s, not cookie cutter, with some real character. -  Because of its elevated positions, m...

With a population of over 58,000, La Mesa has thousands of single family homes, and many unique styles of architecture. If you're looking for a "consistent" subdivision, where they all look pretty much the same, you won't find much of that in your La Mesa real estate search.  But if you like eclectic architecture, La Mesa is a great choice! When you consider that the bulk of La Mesa homes were built from the 1940s to the 1970s, you'll enjoy a tempting array of choices, depending on which part of town you're home shopping in. Another charming downtown La Mesa home 1920s-- and before! You'll find plenty of Craftsman style homes, especially near La Mesa Village and downtown. Also, you'll see many Spanish/Mediterranean homes from this era throughout Mount Helix, which is partially in the ci...

“It’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it, but not have it.”  Your home warranty is like an insurance policy.  The home warranty company will send a repairman to fix things when they break, so you do not have to pay out of pocket with a lot of cash.  A home warranty will keep unexpected bills low, and help keep your monthly expenses predictable and manageable. Just remember Murphy’s Law:  If you have the home warranty, you probably will not need it, but if you do not have a home warranty, that is when something will break! Read your home warranty If you followed our recommendation, you received a free home warranty at the close of escrow courtesy of the seller.  Be sure to read the policy thoroughly.  It covers most things, but not everything. You can continue renewing th...
