Did you know that in November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11, 1919 as the official day to remember the injured or those who died in World War 1 and it was officially called "Armistice Day". Kayaking and other Fun Things to do at California Beaches   No matter what your favorite sport is, you can have fun on the southern California beaches.          While driving around this past weekend, we saw Kayaking, Sailing, Fishing and Paddle Boarding.   Other sports on the beach include Volleyball, Running, Bicycling, Roller Skating, Walking your dog, Sunbathing or Swimming in the ocean.    Something here for everyone and lots of places to shop, have lunch, watch sports at a favorite sports bar, or get a snack on the go. But this morning as I looked out my window and see the beauty of this hummingbird just looking up at the sun without a care in the world, I thought we must live life for today and appreciate the beauty around us.   No matter where you live, what state, rural or urban, there is so much beauty around us. Fishing Anyone?   My client has a fountain with Koi fish that just thrive year round. The Koi fish are so colorful and large! She tells me the only concern she has is that the wildlife in her area likes to sneak in the yard at night looking for a tasty treat. They made a screen to cover the fountain to keep them out the raccoons, foxes, cats and large birds. Every night they sit outside and enjoy the sounds of the water and watch the fish swimming and even jumping around! Such a lovely addition to a backyard. Can Snails Read...No that's silly but others 'Read what You Write'!   Yesterday as I was in the backyard and noticed the snails had eaten all my pretty flowers, I decided I was waging a war on snails. While standing there staring into the planter, I noticed the sign I had stuck in the ground “welcoming the snails” and thinking perhaps snails can read. Of course snails cannot read but it got me thinking……   I started thinking about others reading and interpreting what we write. We all tend to speak what is on our minds and make comments on other person’s blogs as well. As professionals, we need to be careful what we write about.   The Tree at the Top of the Hill Yesterday while driving to the beach, we saw this huge tree all by itself way at the top of a hill. So we decided to hike up there even though the temperatures were in the triple digits. We finally got to the top but ……..I forgot to take the looking down picture!   Here are a few photos of this beautiful flower, Matilija Poppy, growing at the San Diego Zoo. This is a native California flower from Ojai, CA in Ventura County. It is such a lovely flower when it is in full bloom but still just as pretty when the petals bend over and start dying off. The petals look like thin wrinkled crepe paper and have a gold center full of pollen for the bees and insects to enjoy. This flower is also known as the “Fried Egg Flower” as it looks like a sunny-side up egg. This is my favorite as the center is still facing up to the sky getting sunlight. A Friendly Welcome From Your Porch I hung this wind chime up on the front porch several weeks ago. Since then, the hummingbirds just love to swing on it.
