Having lived in Marina Del Rey for about almost ten years, these demographics did not surprise me....The beach community is mostly a renter community. People from all over the Globe want to live close to the Pacific Ocean, unfortunately their budget does not permit it. Hence some great business people recognized it 30+ years ago and took a risk in building a great many rental buildings and communities. Now with that said their risk had its rewards. Community Summary Population Growth (since 2000) 9% Population Density (ppl / mile) 11,597 Household Size (ppl) 1.708 Households w/ Children 30.1%   The household size has been increasing as the rental prices have been increasing... Housing Stability Annual Residential Turnover 23% 5+ Years in Residency 22% Median Year in Residency 2%  As you...

Marina Del Rey, CA moments on the road... Diane and I were coming back from Santa Monica, CA on this 80+ degree  sunny Sunday.  I decided to take the slow, but entertaining road to head home.  As I was driving nice and slow ( not by choice) we were watching the Venice residents as well as the tourists. This can be a lot of fun and great entertainment...Just as we were getting close to Marina Del Rey, CA I saw this car, I immediately pointed it out to Diane to look in the back seat. There was this regal looking dog enjoying the sights, just like we were. I asked her to take a picture or two.As the car was turning, we notice the dog had Sunglasses on not sure if you can enlarge the picture and check it out. Clearly this is a quintessential  or should I say  typical 80+ degree Southern Ca...

Thanksgiving Challenge: being grateful, day five, a Beverly Hills Realtor’s perspective, by Endre Barath, Jr.I am so grateful that I have had the time to be able to write a blog post five days in a row about being ‘Grateful’. Too often life takes over and we do not have the time, energy or focus on this very important challenge. Thanks to my friend Debbie Reynolds I am trying to keep it up.I have so many things, events and reasons to be grateful, it is more about finding the time to select and write about them.Tonight, I decided to write about how grateful I am to be living in Southern California, Los Angeles, CA to be specific. I have lived all over the world and this is the only place I can say I have stayed the longest, hard to believe but it has been 20 years. Now let’s be clear in ...

The greater Los Angeles Real Estate Market is on fire. It is hot just like the summer temperatures in Los Angeles, that is how hot the real estate market is?  This post was inspired by one of my Active Rain friends. She asked us to write what it’s like in our community. How hot is the temperature during the summer and what are the outdoor activities like in our community?I thought about it and realized what a great benefit this post would be for those who are considering relocating to Los Angeles and vicinity. Los Angeles has always been a destination place from all over the world. People dream of relocating to Southern California and specifically the greater Los Angeles area.Well the Real Estate Market is hot! Those of you who read my Los Angeles Real Estate Market reports, know, I hav...

New Year’s Day Morning Traditions: what is your tradition?Diane and I get up and we turn the TV on to watch the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA. This of course has to be with Mimosa. Every year I play with how to make it. This year I opted to get fresh navel oranges from our back yard. Since we found out what they were and how sweet they were, we have been having lots of fun with this fruit, eating, drinking and giving them away.We always disliked poor quality bubblies, the joke was you can hide them in Mimosa. Well I disagreed with this idea. Went to my Wine Guy at the LA Wine Company and he assured me that just because it is inexpensive I should not be concerned; it is still very good. He told me he makes Mimosa with it too. Now with that type of reassurance, off I went and...

Stress Free Moving: The Holy Grail of moving from one home to another... This sounds like such a great idea, needless to say you can plan and try to execute your plan to the best of your abilities, but there are always some unexpected surprises. The movers were a major and critical key to a smoothly moving operation. We did some good pre-planning, pre-packing, organizing for the move. Not wanting to over emphasize the fact, that if everything is packed the movers have it easier. Needless to say running a business from my home required that, the Internet, the Fax machine, the Printer, the Scanner and all other equipment needed to be functioning until the morning of the movers arrival. This is critical when you have ten (10) listings and are working with three (3) serious buyers and have ...
