D' Amores Pizzeria in Malibu is always a great destination. Diane took the day off and wanted to take our neighbor's children to D'Amores for giving them a change of pace.... not going into details picture an "old lady"  and one boy who is about to go to Kindergarden this fall, then his sister who is about to enter sixth grade and the oldest sister who is about to become a Junior in High School.... with that said the common denominator was the Pizzaria and the Pacific Ocean. From the feedback it was a total HIT. I am only posting one picture of the roof top where we ate the Pizza, you can see why everyone was happy...    (this picture was taken in 2012 way before the pandemic... now the pictures are down and only pizza boxes are stacked here ...what a shame)Wishing you a safe and health...

Have you ever been to the Malibu Lagoon? This is a great gem of a park for observing various wildlife, local surfers, to paint or just relax. The Malibu Lagoon is where the Malibu creek meets the Pacific ocean, pretty cool! This park is also home to the famous Malibu Pier, Adamson House, Surfrider Beach and the Malibu Lagoon Museum, all within walking distance of each other. Be aware, the beach state park does charge a fee for parking. To avoid that fee, its recommended to park near the Malibu Public Library on "Civic Center Way." The image above illsutrates the street I'm referring to. From there, its a very short enjoyable walk to the Lagoon. It would also be wise to park early, at least by 8am. If your doing a road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway, be sure to make a stop off at t...

Speechless Sunday: The Powere of Mother Nature   as most of you remember that last November there were some devastating fires not just in Malibu but in Augora and vicinity. Words can not describe what the devastation looked like. I chose not to write and post pictures about it, since it was hard for me to comprehend and I did not want to take advantage of writing about the misery of the local residents.  Now three months later I decided to drive along PCH( Pacific Coast Highway) to Kanan Dume Road. It was a site to see....   Thanks to all the Rains we had since November, Mother Nature has blanketed the area with beautiful green grass. I thought wow what a contrast the burned out trees and homes and in its place perfect green grass that I was accustomed to seeing on the east coast but no...

California has enacted some new laws, related to Insurance Protection for homeowners. Their intent was to strengthen the rights of homeowners. In other words to protect them from unfair Insurance Practices, when it is related to Fires and other Natural Disasters. As most of my readers are familiar, this past year we had way too many wildfires and other natural disasters in the Golden State. These were all very devastating events to the average home owner.Certain Insurance companies have employed various tactics trying to avoid paying out on claims. Their intent was to minimize their Company's losses, not just for the present, but also for the future. These tactics in turn generated eight new laws in the Golden State and their intent was/is to protect homeowners who have purchased insuranc...

The silent and forgotten victims of the Fires in Malibu and vicinity are the animals..... The Fires in Malibu and vicinity are very scary, and I feel terrible for those who lost their homes, lives and loved ones. As of this writing, the fires continue to rage and sadly they are still not contained. Depending on who you talk to, the Hill Fire is about 65-70% contained, but the Malibu Fire aka the Woolsey Fire is around 10-15% contained. The worst part about this is that the winds are supposed to pick up starting late tonight and then all bets are off about containment.I was sad to  read that many people in their haste left behind their pets, their horses and other animals. I have a hard time comprehending how that is possible. Everyone should have an evacuation plan. Unfortunately, I und...

What could be more serious than the Midterm Elections in California: The Fires in Malibu and vicinity of course….Hard to believe the Midterm Elections are behind us and we are facing a new and even more serious crisis than the political mess we are in:  I am referring to the Fires in Malibu and vicinity. As of this writing there have been 75,000 acres affected by the Woolsey and Hill fires. (Both are near each other).Realtor.com’s  Marketing Department in Westlake Village was closed since the evacuation orders came this morning around 2:30 am. One of my dear friends is now with her daughter in Santa Monica, CA. for obvious reasons.I reached out to a few Active Rain friends who might be affected by these scary natural events anyway those of you who know  Ryan Huggins - Thousand Oaks, CA ...

This question came from one of my referral agents, she wanted to know if I was familiar with Malibu as well? At the same time she was wondering how the Market was. So with that said since I gave her the update I thought I would share it here as well.Just like every where else not just in Malibu but in the Greater Los Angeles area, there is a shortage of inventory. This is because of many reasons and it translates into a fast and heated  Real Estate Market.... Not suprisingly the Days on Market are quiet fast, that of course translates into a seller's market which translates into multiple offer situations and above asking price sales.  Seldom do I write about Dollar Volume but this is more for all the International Buyers and anyone who reads it need to understand that this is a serious ...

After hiking the Zuma Canyon Trails, I made a quick pit stop by the Malibu Piers on the PCH (Pacific Crest Highway). Finding parking near the pier around 1pm was challenging! But with patience and persistence, a space opened up. I didn't have much time to explore, but what I did come to understand, the pier is home to the Malibu Farm Restaurant & Bar (located at the beginning of the pier) and the Malibu Farm Pier Cafe (located at the end of the pier). The food aromas coming from both locations where pretty intriguing! Not to mention, both places provide ORGANIC food and drinks. If you wish not to eat, and simply walk the pier, its great for that as well. You could relax and sit on the bench while soaking up the sun solo or meet up with family and friends. Fishing is another common activ...

Zuma & Trancas Canyon in Malibu, CA is a great place to hike! The trails range from easy to moderate and the vistas are pretty great!  One of the main reasons I choose this hike was to explore a water creek! For most of the hike I didn't see any water (dry spell) but! I'm happy to report, I did come across small pools of water at the end of the Zuma Canyon Trail. Getting to the Zuma Canyon Trailhead: Take the Pacific Coast hwy to Bonsall Drive (near Zuma Beach). Turn Right on Bonsall Drive and keep driving to the end of the road. You'll see a parking lot at the end of the road which says "Zuma Canyon Trailhead."Hiking Fee: FREEParking Fee: FREE. Parking lot closes at sunset. Open To: Hikers, Dogs & Horses. Dogs need to be leashed. Maps: Maps are available at the trailhead.   Visit Zuma ...

18425 Pacific Coast HWY MALIBU CA 90265SOLD!!!!!!There was such a great deal of interest from all over the Globe, I have not just received emails and texts but a great many calls. I would love to share with you that the marketing is working, when you get numerous calls from China, Australia, France & Canada to name a few places. Needless to say this is a challenging build, since it falls under the California Coastal Commission jurisdiction as well as Los Angeles Hillside Ordinance. In spite of the challenges I mentioned above, this vacant lot is a fantastic opportunity to build a dream home overlooking the ocean in Malibu! This ocean view Malibu lot is just off PCH and Topanga Canyon Blvd with head on 180 degree ocean views from Catalina Island to Santa Monica and Malibu. Positioned high...

Previewing properties can bring back memories. I decided to check out some of the vacant lots that I was planning on showing to my clients this weekend. Land you say, WHY preview that? Well after the heavy rains of a couple years ago and then the droughts, I felt I needed to revisit some of these vacant lots in Malibu.I ended up driving about six miles up a scary road to this particular property. I was pleasantly surprised that there were construction people "fixing" the road and needless to say it was also "scary" at the same time. I am driving my Lexus RX 350 and there appeared to be less road for a Construction Truck and my vehicle... but we managed....Now I am digressing after I passed the "repair crew" I knew I have been here before, no it was not a deja vu  moment. I actually look...

18425 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu has generated a lot of interest, one buyer actually went into Escrow with us and things were moving along smoothly. I have continued receiving calls from people as they drove by my sign. Next thing I know for some reason the calls slowed... so just out of curiosity I went by and wow. Someone stole the sign. Keep in mind Pacific Coast Highway is busy with local traffic and to boot from Tourist Traffic as well. I was a bit disappointed since it took some effort to get rid of my sign... Never the less I am Happy to Report the buyer has removed all their contingencies. Now we are just waiting for the rest of the funds to arrive. Just on a side note I would love to know who would go through that much trouble? This is a difficult sell as well as a difficu...
