The wonderful people at the Pet Rescue Center in Mission Viejo take in dogs and cats with serious medical issues. The goal is to care for these animals so that they become adoptable. Of course they rely on donations to make this a reality. Their website is full of of happy outcomes and opportunities to donate and volunteer. Katniss is the featured story of the day. Katniss was found in a high kill center as an injured puppy. She had been hit by 2 cars and was in bad shape. Through the loving care of the Pet Rescue Center of Mission Viejo, she was saved, as were all four of her legs.  Feeling The Heat - SoCal October   It's here...again...the heat. As Southern California hears report after report about our upcoming El Nino, we are forgoing the morning coffee for ice tea. Ok...well I am.Triple digit days in the middle of October. But it's a dry heat. No seriously it is. That makes it more pleasant to exist in, but also makes me nervous about fires. Good news is the last couple heat waves have some in spurts and not long sustained stretches. When you live in Southern California, you are acutely aware of fire weather. On days like this, I admit that the first thing I do when I step outside is smell the air and see if I smell fire.Nothing....it's a good day.Next week? I hear there could be rain.
