I went out to grab a bite to eat at lunchtime and decided to visit my friendly, neighborhood Chick-fil-A.  As I am sure Jeremy Blanton will whole-heartedly agree with, Chick-fil-A is a fantastic organization with spectacular food.  They believe in serving quality food for great prices, treat their employees well and give back to their community in any way they can.  So, when I got home, sat down and opened my bag of hot deliciousness, I saw this little green piece of paper talking about Military Appreciation Month at Chick-fil-A in Moreno Valley, CA: Every Saturday in May, all military personnel (whether active, reserve or veteran) is welcome to eat for FREE all day long.  They only have to present their military ID.  And, as if that weren't enough, on Saturday, May 29, 2010, the Chick-...

Southern California experienced torrential rains yesterday.  No, not just some rain.  We had actual thunder, lightning, hail, flooding, heavy downpour and even a tornado here and there.  We even had a tornado watch going on yesterday afternoon.  I was waiting for Elmira Gulch (Margaret Hamilton) to come riding by my window on her bicycle with Toto in the basket.  Craziness!  In the afternoon, this was just a taste of what we experienced: It was over in about an hour.  After evening fell, so did more rain.  We had this going on: Lightning was almost hitting the hills behind our house.  Thunder rolled on and on, sounding alot like the jets we hear every so often from March Air Reserve Base located about a mile and a half south of our home.  There's supposed to be an even heavier cell head...

While driving home from dropping my son off at school this morning, I saw this in the sky: Closer view: What the heck is it?  The sun was to the left.  This anomaly in the clouds started out as dark amber on the left, graduated to light gold, then was white and finally grey on the right.  Of course, I just HAD to pull into the car dealership, get out and shoot a photo to share. **These photos were taken by my very own camera and are my property.  However, if you like what you see and want to use them for yourself, please let me know.  I might give my permission, I might not.  I gotta hear the reason first. ;-)** Heather Chavez, Real Estate Virtual Assistant - Second Self Virtual Assistance: When There Isn't Enough of You to Go Around!

If it had a birth sign, Southern California weather would be a Gemini.  Why else would you look in one direction (north) and get this: Cloudy storm clouds over snow-capped mountains to the north of my house. Then turn around looking south and get this: Sunny skies over my home in the complete opposite direction from stormy skies above.

For some reason, when I was pumping gas the other day (appropriate, no?), the song "Beans, Beans the Magical Fruit" came to mind.  Can you see why that might be? Apparently, "So nice, you'll taste it twice" is considered a great advertising campaign.  Of course, if you're buying your lunch at the gas station's convenience store, I guess you're not a real "stickler" for quality. If you have ever seen a dancing cow in your neighborhood, then you might know what restaurant he is promoting: This little guy (or gal, you can't really tell) is always working his/her tail off to tell everyone to not both with eating beef.  It's so passe.  "Eat More Chikn".  I saw him/her dancing on the corner when I went to pick up some lunch today.  Chik-Fil-A is a fantastic fast food restaurant with tons of healthy food to eat that tastes fantastic.  Had to share! Save the cows!  Eat More Chickn! **These photos were taken by my very own camera and are my property.  However, if you like what you see and want to use them for yourself, please let me know.  I might give my permission, I might not.  I gotta hear the reason first. ;-)** Heather Chavez, Real Estate Virtual Assistant - Seco...

My son and I love Halloween.  In fact, you could say we have a "howling" good time!  I waited until the last minute to buy and carve the pumpkin because a carved pumpkin doesn't last very long.  I took the video below with a daytime and nighttime view of part of our Halloween display to share.  This is merely a taste.  If you want to see more, you'll have to come by next Halloween! Clouds rise from the ground?  I always thought they were created in the skies above us.  However, this guy seemed to rise up from the ground in a sort of mushroom formation.  It was so big, I couldn't get a vantage point that would allow me to capture the whole thing in my lens.  But, it was too amazing a formation to pass up a photo op. **These photos were taken by my very own camera and are my property.  However, if you like what you see and want to use them for yourself, feel free to do so.  Simply mention where you got them.  I'd appreciate it. ** Heather Chavez - Second Self Virtual Assistance: When There Isn't Enough of You to Go Around!

Apparently, Mother Nature means business over the Southern California skies.  And business is good!  We have been experiencing thunder, lightening and occasional outbursts of light sprinkles.  This would be what they mean when they say "June gloom". While there may be other reasons that your home may not sell (i.e., Damp Basements, Bugs, Ugly Wallpaper/Paint, etc.) poor curb appeal is among top ten barriers to selling your home.  Did you know that houses have "reputations"?  It could have the reputation as the house that smells, the house with huge barking dog, or the house with the ugly yard and grass as tall as trees.  Many home buyers often refuse to go into a house with an unkempt yard, broken windows or visible debris.  Y2Kleanout can help you grab the buyer's interest from the curb. We are available to help you get that yard in tip-top shape and keep it maintained until it sells.  We also haul trash and debris to remove any evidence of clutter.  And, we board up windows and doors to minimize vandalism and damage to the interi...

In almost any community within San Bernardino and Riverside counties - from starter homes to million-dollar mansions - tens of thousands of homes throughout Southern California are now vacant, abandoned or in foreclosure. While some of the properties are being well maintained, most are not.  First impressions are just that - First Impressions!  When someone is driving by a property of interest, they do not want to see gross crusty grass. The high weeds, garbage, neglect and abuse outside the homes create an eyesore for neighbors and prospective buyers. It's a dirty job and Y2Kleanout can do it! Y2Kleanout Property Preservation a full service "trash out" company providing property clean out services as well as lawn maintenance crews to help you "Klean up your curb appeal". We come to the...

Usually, people use New Year's Day as inspiration to start anew.  Since I was fighting off a cold so that I could get into surgery on January 7th, New Year's was NOT a day of renewal for me.  Recouperating from surgery can take a while.  In my case, the doctor gave me 12 weeks to make sure that everything healed up nicely before I could do anything more strenuous than folding laundry.  Last week, those 12 weeks were up!  My son and I finally got to do what I had been promising him to do since we moved into our house last summer (and before the intense abdominal pain stopped me from doing any such foolishness): attempt to climb the hills behind us.  Now, when my son was younger, we used to go on excursions around the smaller hills of our old house all the time.  These hills behind our cu...
