The Waterfront Home Decorating Competition starts again giving the Boat Parade decorating competition for Light,  The Ring of Lights competition usually involves 50-60 homes that go all out to light up the skies with Christmas lights and animations to entertain us and give us yet another free evening of enjoyment. They become more and more elaborate every year. There is even a resident who dons a Christmas Tree outfit, wrapped with lights which are bright from batteries.Only homes seen from the water are eligible for the Ring of Lights contest. For 101 years the Boat parade has been going on but the people on the boats have not had any other lights to enjoy except other boats until the Ring of Lights contest started. Only in the last couple of decades have the homes on Balboa competed wi...

A home that was featured on a TV show "Million Dollar Listing" did not cause the home to sell.  The Newport Coast home on Bravo TV with an asking price of just under $10 million did not sell.  The show featured a big fight over the difference between that price and the $8 million cash offer.  The TV show did not sell the home in Pelican Crest went to foreclosure a few weeks later.  The Realtor who made the offer was selected by the bank to list the property and sold it for $7,050,000. There were some problems in the sale the basement filled with water and had be be repaired at he tune of over $200,000 which lead to a price drop.  The owner who lost the home called the cash offer of $8 million "ridiculous.  So what should have been a sale if the owner accepted the offer ended up a forecl...

Yes, now is the time to purchase a Luxury home anything over $1,000,000 is a great buy.  The buyer went into hiding more than a year ago.  Since there a few buyers the prices are very soft.  There is a great deal of competition for the under $600,000 dollar home.  But not on the larger more beautiful home in the area.  This is true across all cities in south orange county, from Irvine, Newport Coast, Laguna Beach, Corona Del Mar, Dana Point, San Clemente, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, San Juan Capistrano, Coto De Caza, Dove Canyon, Ladera Ranch, Talega, and Lake Forest, So if you were waiting to get in and purchase that home of you dreams now is the time!  The interest rates are very good and you can get a loan.  Even with a normal down payment.  So don't wait until the ma...

Today in our local paper an article in the business section states that the Pending U.S. home sales rose in June for the 5th straight month.  This statistic came from the National Assoc. of Realtors.  It rose 3.6% from 91.3 to 94.6 from May to June.  It has been 7 years since we have had 5 consecutive monthly gains. These statistics were on written contracts to purchase a home and generally they do not turn into solds until the close of the sale a one the two month lag. Price are low, interest rates are low and a first-time-home buyer incentive (tax credit) of up to $8,000 have all helped the market.  Here in South Orange County we have been reporting this up spike in sales with multiple offers on homes and condo's in the 300,000-600,000 price range.  The biggest problem in our market...

By Jim Carlton                                                                                                                            TheWall Street Journal With the state's median price rising for the second consecutive month in April, and sales of existing, single-family homes remaining above the 500,000 level for the eighth month in a row, California is being closely watched as a barometer of the economy.  Some economists believe these two factors indicate the state's median price could be at or near the bottom. MAKING SENSE OF THE STORY FOR CONSUMERS ·    Sales of existing, single-family homes increased 49.2 percent in April in California compared with the same period a year ago, according to the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®' (C.A.R.) Take a look at the Sunday Register Business section, and be appalled at the audacity of the executives in the Investment and Financial sector that during a time when their companies were losing money, theirs and ours, they felt they deserved Bonuses in the Millions totaling over many billions. Those bonuses, from what I understand of bonuses, are to a job well done. They are for jobs that bring profits and because the business exceeded the budgeted profits and or costs, they would deserve a bonus. When your company loses Billions of Dollars and the US Government, US, must bail out the companies   to keep them a float and make sure people have jobs, and insurance, and security and continue to spend money to keep the economy going: it definitely is NOT right for them to take bonuses at th...

I am listening to CNBC and they are talking about how great it is that interest rates are so low.  Of course, they then bring in the negative and comment, "Rates may be low, but who has 25% to put down and a credit score of 750"?Where do they get this information.  We are getting buyers into homes everyday with only THREE percent down and FICO's as low as 580!Please do not  believe everything you hear or read and always remember, "The mass is always wrong"  If you follow the mass, you will always be average at best.  Most successful people have learned to buy and sell against the grain. If I can ever help you buy or sell in Newport Beach CA, Newport Coast CA, Irvine CA, Costa Mesa CA, please give me a call!Dan Rawitch888-794-9882www.eHomePlaceRealty.comwww.LoveNewportLiving.comwww.LoveI...

Marlene Dietrich and I spend our after hours donating our time to the Orange County Chapter of the Make-A-Wish foundation as Wish Grantors. We feel we would like to give back to the community and these children with Life Threatening Conditions. They amaze you with their attitude towards life, family and their own personal situation. They are always pleasant, smiling, and thinking of others. Good health, family, community and friends. That's what matters. I hear that Macy's Department Stores beginning November 9th; take your letter addressed to Santa At The North Pole, to most local Macy's locations and you can drop them into a special Santa letterbox. Those letters will be counted and for each letter received, Macy's will dontate $1.00 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation up to $1,000,000.WOW!! ...

I found an intriguing article for first-time home buyers. In truth, this article applies to all considering buying or selling real estate in today's market. Finally, someone who is not a real estate agent is agreeing with me - now is the time to start thinking about buying! As a Newport Beach Realtor, when I start talking about buying now, some folks accuse me of just being another crazy Newport Beach real estate agent screaming, "Buy, Buy, Buy!" I'm not. I'll leave the screaming to Mr. Mad Money, Jim Kramer. I just know when the dust settles, down the road, some folks are going to look back and say, "Why didn't I get something back then?" It's especially true with Newport Beach real estate. Let's hear from Ron Lieber of the New York Times and learn why, "It May Be Time to Think About B...

What's up with the street named Coral Cay in Crystal Cove? There are seven homes for sale on this street. One of them is going to be a deal for someone. At least by today's standards. Check out the listing information for 3 Coral Cay. This is an ocean view property in like-new condition on a large lot.  Currently the price shows $3.995M. That's not a deal. But, wait, I received an e-mail this week stating the price is coming down to $3.250M. Whoa! That's a good price reduction! A good negotiator might even get it for less. I can't find my crystal ball so, I can't tell you what's going to happen in the next year. But, for now, 3 Coral Cay is shaping up to be a deal in today's market. Maybe seller resistance to realistic pricing in Crystal Cove real estate is finally starting to give way.

Hi Everyone:   Wouldn't you like to put a smile on a child's face?  Make-A-Wish kids are children with "life threatening" diseases, they spend their days fighting for their health in hospitals and therapy.  In their medical world, especially at Christmas Time, it would really be great if we could lift their spirits and add a little happiness to their hospital rooms and bedrooms at home to get a toy or gift certificate.    Use your imagination, a toy for any age, boy or girl, a gift certificate from Target, Blockbuster or McDonalds for the teenagers would make a huge difference!!!  We all have so much more than these kids have, let's give from the heart to those not quite as fortunate as we are.....   I will have a box at the front of the office to drop off your contributions, unwrapped ...
