One of the most famous images of the iconic Marilyn Monroe comes from her 1955 movie, "The Seven Year Itch." Here's that image captured in a 26-foot tall statue entitled "Forever Marilyn."  We saw in back in 2012 when it was in Palm Springs. The statue went on a US tour in 2014 and now is visiting Australia. I've read that there are negotiations ongoing to try to get Marilyn returned to Palm Springs. 08/03/2016

It is always a very exciting weekend in Palm Springs when thousands of participants in the 18th Annual Tour De Palm Springs visit our lovely Coachella Valley. There will be some events that start on Friday for this bicycle road rides and fundraiser while the first race (The 100 mile Escape the City Lights Ride) begins on Saturday at 6:30 a.m. which will be followed by shorter races including a 50, 25, and 10 mile ride along with a 1.5 mile walk. California is in a severe drought..so why am I blogging about a NEW golf course?  My low desert Valley area of Palm Springs to La Quinta sports approx. 123 golf courses!  What?  That is correct, and only 30-40% use reclaimed water.  So Why ANOTHER course?  This is a double edged problem. The new course at Hawks Landing in Yucca Valley has actually been there for quite some time, but only just re-opened 2 weeks ago.  It's heading to the new strategy of Desert Scape on surrounding areas other than the Fairway, and only two 6 hole koops.  Idea being, to use less water of course, and also to allow new players to NOT have to spend so many hours playing!  They can choose to shoot 6 holes and stop, 12 holes and stop, or 18 holes and stop.  Much more user friendly.
