I Don’t Remember Driving School Being This Cool. I’m sure if my boys were to drive one of these cars, they would have told me.   Dave’s Driving School in Placerville is a driving school that many of the young drivers go to when they are preparing for their driving test. My boys each spent the required driving hours at Dave’s Driving School. The driving instruction at that time was done in some sedan that was not all that memorable. Recently, the school let the kids drive a cool car. When I saw this red car on the freeway and saw Dave’s Driving on the side, I had to take a shot of it.     A Cold Day Around The Neighborhood in Placerville, CA   The clear skies last night pushed the temporatures down to about 28 degrees very early this morning.   El Dorado County Prepares for Colder Weather   Temperatures have been dropping in Placerville at night, and throughout the Sacramento region. Black ice on the roads and freeways has created problems driving, two to five feet of snow expected this weekend, and construction projects require much warmer clothing.     This photo is very familiar to many in the country, but to those in Placerville, icicles are not a common sight. 12/19/2012

There are large communities that cater to those who enjoy a private community that offers amenities especially for the horse owner. Greenstone Country in Placerville, CA is one of the largest horse property communities in El Dorado County. Miles of horse trails, a riding arena, and lots that are perfect for those with horses. There are walking trails too; several miles of beautiful, quiet trails that meander through the large private community. Recently I wrote a post about a door and threshold that needed to be changed. It was a trip hazard and someone had already been injured. I got a call from someone because of that post. The woman had a business that moved heavy boxes in and out of the warehouse and the threshold had become a problem. I told her that I’d look into it. Although this is not something that I do a lot of, I am qualified to make these repairs. I get most calls regarding dry rot, because I post about that a lot.   Placerville, CA – We’re Above The Fog One of the benefits of living in the foothills of the Sierras, is the weather is a bit different then in the Sacramento Valley. We get a little bit of snow, the summers are a little cooler, and in the foggy season we are just above that fog line.     Here is a photo that shows how the fog ends right at Forni Road on Highway 50. The trees are peaking through at the tail end of the fog. There are days when there will be no sunlight all day when Placerville has sunshine from sunrise to sunset.   View Larger Map   11/02/2012

  New Lawn Design or Poor Irrigation?   While shooting a deer in this front yard (yes, he’s there), I was intrigued by the green circles in the lawn. I was wondering what causes something like this to happen? I can see that the irrigation does not cover the entire lawn area, that’s why it is brown outside the circles. So either they used the wrong sprinkler heads for proper coverage, or there is a loss in water pressure due to a break in the line. Either way, it looks like a new design in lawns.   09/30/2012

  Sometimes you just have to have proof that you are telling the truth.   One of my employees sent me a picture of a broken window at an apartment community, the text said “I didn’t do it!” I was puzzled, so I called him to find out more about the window. When I called he said that he just wanted to show that the window was broken before the rotten wood around the window was replaced. He didn’t want anyone to say that we broke the window. I have never had this happen yet – being blamed for something that we did not do. But it could happen. In fact, it could easily happen. We do a lot of work in apartment communities; it would just take a bad tenant to claim that we broke the window. We may have to pay for a window that the tenant broke. That got me thinking.
