Ocean Fish and Chips is our favorite Elk Grove place to go for fish and chips. There are not that many places in Elk Grove that serve fish and chips, but this restaurant stacks up well against restaurants even outside the area, including a Las Vegas restaurant that I recently visited, Gordon Ramsay's Pub and Grill. I tried their fish and chips with mushy peas. The mushy peas were extremely good, but the very mushy fish was not. Gordon Ramsay must be very proud of the dish served at $30.99. Quite frankly, everyone seems pretty proud in Las Vegas. Everything is expensive! If you are ever in Las Vegas, it is worth going by to see Ramsay's restaurant. The decor is pretty cool utilizing over 50 beer kegs as decorations and they do have a great selection of beer. Ocean Fish and...
My first career started a long time ago in Stockton, CA. While I was in high school, I would spend a lot of time painting with my father. Actually, it started way before high school. My dad would set me up to paint a closet. He would paint the rest of the house and then come back and help me finish up the closet. I had more paint on me than the closet. Ha! I was so little! Once I made it through high school and started my years at UC Davis, painting became much more serious through the summers. It was a real pleasure working for my dad. It was really fun to help transform houses into a client's dream home. Kitchen Cabinets-A Henson Painting Specialty Four years later, I graduat...

I hear this at times from buyers: it's not worth what you're asking, as though an opinion from the peanut gallery holds any water in Sacramento real estate. For starters, home buyers are not experts. They often barely tour only a handful of homes in Sacramento before making an offer, and at that they're viewing only homes for sale, which has little bearing on the prices homes sell for. But they have opinions, and I like to hear those thoughts. As a Sacramento Realtor representing sellers, it's good to know where they are coming from, even if it's from outer space. My quest is to get the highest price possible for the seller. If they want to pay our price, they can come over and sit down next to me. If they do not, they can go make somebody else's life miserable. But for crying out loud,...

We were supposed to close escrow last week for a pending sale in Elk Grove, but we don't even loan docs drawn yet. I suspect the problem is dual-fold. First, the lender did not fully advise the buyers about the damage they could cause themselves by touching their credit reports. If the lender did advise, the buyers did not understand. The buyer's agent was out of town for a while. I myself had to sit on hold for 15 minutes just to get through on the phone to the buyer's lender. The story I received from the lender differed from the story the buyer's agent had received earlier that day. The thing is you never know what an unsupervised homebuyer will do. It can start as the simplest little sign. The idea a wood rot can sometimes sound like a sign of neglicect. That can lead to much of the problem, but knowing what to look for when it comes to rotted wood and where it is likely to happen is important. If you have a concern about wood rotting at your home in the Sacramento area, consider contacting a contractor with experience in dry rot and water damage repair in Sacramento.

While walking through a home in Elk Grove with freshly shampooed carpets yesterday, I slipped when my stocking feet hit the tile floor coming off the wet stairs and I landed on my butt. Stubbed my toe, too, and it's still a little painful this morning. But did I drop my clipboard? Heck no. I hung on to that sucker because I didn't make all those scribbles for nothing. Which is why I have four closings tomorrow, even though we have all of these holidays in Sacramento and days off. If you're a Superior Court Judge in Sacramento, it's fairly safe to say that many have a 5-day weekend starting today. Right in the middle of all of this is Friday the 13th. An agent who works outside of Sacramento called a few days ago to say she won't be in the area for our Sacramento open houses on Sunday, but was hoping a member of my team could show her buyer on Saturday a few homes in Land Park. She explained that she did not have a lockbox display key so she could not access the homes her buyer wanted to see. Sure, we would help her out, I offered. Imagine our shock, though, when in the middle of viewing those homes, the agent's buyer announced that she has no intention of buying any homes, she simply wanted to see them. What? Does she think we work for the state of California and we provide a free public service for inquiring minds? I shouldn't pick on the state because my husband is starting his new job there tomorrow. But you can read more in my p...
