Who Needs That Electrical Box In The Ceiling?   While we may not always understand why some things are required when building a home, we can't just change things without doing them right. The homeowners asked me to replace their track lighting in the living room and I was happy to do so. I assumed that things would have been wired correctly up to the light. I was wrong.  There were two light fixtures that had been filled with expanding foam instead of an electrical box that is required. Since the fixture mounded to the ceiling along the track, the missing electrical box was not noticed until it was removed.  A contractor can correct this electrical problem in Sacramento, and you can probably find one in a neighborhood near you!

Those Tree Roots Out Battle Concrete Curbs every time in Sacramento       When it comes to the tree roots vs. concrete curbs, the concrete doesn’t stand a chance. This is especially true if the concrete does not have any steel reinforcement. Having some rebar or wire mesh adds a great deal of strength. Even then, the proximity of the tree itself is a factor.     If you are replacing those concrete curbs in Sacramento, look for an experienced contractor to do the job right.

So is it worth updating that older home  when buying in Sacramento?   Older homes in Sacramento have a character that is not often found in the newer construction. When looking to purchase a home, you may be faced with some decisions about what to do with a home in Sacramento that is 50 years old. These decisions will involve costs of improvements, return on investment, and personal preferences.   Before you make an offer on an older home, you may want to have a conversation with both your Real Estate Agent and a General Contractor to see if the purchase can meet your needs. Your agent can give you valuable feedback on the added value the improvements will make to the property, the contractor can give you an idea as to the cost of the improvements. Both are going to be important when ...

Do You and Your Contractor Speak The Same Language?   When I get calls from clients or potential clients and listen to what they are describing as the problem, I have to remind myself that we don’t always speak the same language. I not talking about languages like English, Spanish, or French; I only speak English. What I have to take into consideration is that the words you use to explain the problem may mean something entirely different to me, the contractor. Here is one of the most common mix-ups that I run into. I got a call from a woman who had a leak in her kitchen sink. Leaks can be something that can cause all sorts of water damage, even dry rot if not detected and repaired in the early stages. Leaks can be in the water line which will be a constant stream of water. A drainage ...

This Is the Problem with Steel Entry Doors       It is important that the entry door to your home is attractive, durable, resistant to the elements, and safe. You can often times find this in a quality steel entry door but there is a down side…. Steel entry doors will dent, and there is not much you can do about it.       View Larger Map
