  Can a Post Rot If It Is Up On a Pier Block?   There are benefits to putting posts up on pier blocks. These blocks eliminate the need to set them in the ground. Whenever wood is put in the ground, there is the risk of dry rot and water damage over time. So putting the post up on a pier block protects the post right? Not always. We see these blocks under homes, decks and storage buildings all the time and if not taken care of, can be a problem. You may be wondering how this can happen. It's pretty simple.   Sheep Invasion at the Sacramento County Landfill?     The Sacramento County Landfill has a new addition to the hillside; grazing sheep to control the vegetation growth. What a great idea! The sheep get to eat all day, and the County of Sacramento controls the weed growth on the mounds of soil. Sounds like a win-win situation.     View Larger Map

  This sign that was posted below a box of ABS pipe fittings probably doesn’t mean anything to you, unless you are a plumber or someone looking for a 45 degree 2” ABS fitting. It was quite a controversial piece, as many tried to figure out if it was a typo. It was a typo; there is no such thing as a 40 degree fitting.
