I've lived in San Jose most of my life. As a native Californian, I suppose I've earned the right to poke a little fun at my hometown.Summer in San Jose isn't exactly a secret vacation destination. We don't have ocean breezes like Santa Cruz, vineyards like Napa, or cable cars like San Francisco. What we do have is sunshine, blue skies, and enough to do that even lifelong residents occasionally leave the air conditioning.One of the biggest summer traditions is the Santa Clara County Fair, held on August 19-23, 2026, at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. It's a slice of old-fashioned Americana with carnival rides, livestock competitions, live entertainment, exhibits, food that probably shouldn't qualify as food, and enough deep-fried creations to make your cardiologist shake their head. ...
