CONDO'S FOR SALE IN SAN PEDRO CALIFORNIA~ IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BUYING A CONDO, THIS BLOG IS FOR YOU~ Thinking of buying a condo?Things are changing more and more each day.  Last year as things were falling apart here in LA County, the window for FHA buyers became very narrow for purchases.  Especially when it came to condos.  If a building is not FHA approved, an FHA loan cannot be used to purchase that condo. In San Pedro, California there are only a handful of FHA approved condo buildings.  It is slim pickins out there for sure and Long Beach has more buildings that are approved but the ratio of approved vs not approved is staggering. Sometimes, some of the coolest things are available right in your own backyard.  In San Pedro, we are blessed to have the Fort MacArthur Museum, which is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the history of Fort MacArthur. Fort MacArthur was the guardian of the Los Angeles Harbor from 1914 to 1974.   If you browse on the Fort MacArthur Museum website, one of the recent accomplishments is the restoration of a WWII General Electric Searchlight which was used for protection during air raids. There is an eight-minute video on the site which is worth watching, as you can see the restored light in operation. Today I was talking to a friend and telling him about my new 365 Things to do in Palos Verdes Facebook page. I mentioned the Little Fish Theatre that I posted about yesterday and he told me about a restaurant that I don’t personally know, but that he really recommended.The Whale & Ale on 7th St in San Pedro is (according to them) the “only Authentic British Restaurant in the South Bay of Los Angeles”. It have an oak bar and a balcony that overlooks a grand piano lounge. They have live music often and excellent food. The Yelp reviews are generally very positive. A lot of people rave about their Fish and Chips.One fun time to go is the first Thursday evening of each month, when many shops and art galleries in the area stay open late and there are street vendors and free live music. One of the disappointments of my life in the last couple of years was the closing of the Neighborhood Playhouse, a delightful theatre in Palos Verdes that was housed in the Neighborhood Church but closed after a fantastic performance of Tennessee Williams’ “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” last year.So I was pleased to discover another little gem of a theatre. OK - it is not EXACTLY in Palos Verdes. It is in the neighboring community of San Pedro. BUT, I still think it is worth mentioning here.  Furthermore, it is tied to the “Shakespeare by the Sea” group that DOES perform in Rancho Palos Verdes.
