Does anyone care, does everyone know? I am sure many do not know and that some just do not know that Columbia released their country's top-level domain names to the public.  In other words we can register domain names such as "anything.co" Why would we want a domain with .co?  Well, .co could be short for COmpany or COrporation.  I registered the one I wanted, but didn't get a few others that I really wanted.  I am happy still.  However, to get the really short ones, they wont last long. Doing loans and Real Estate in Santee California seems fairly routine.  However, I wanted to know how many agents there were out there, who is my competition?.....in my market.... Would you believe that there are 483,250 licensed real estate agents in the State of California? According to http://www.dre.ca.gov/gen_stats_09_10.html Is that a lot?  Well, yes!...... and thankfully.... No... I will explain later why it is so good.... That said, what other profession has that ratio?  Just think about that for a minute?  1 agent for every 90 people.  How many of those people are renters?  How many of those people cannot qualify for a loan?  50%?  I am not sure the exact number, but lets wipe out 50% just for the sake of argument.... I do have a two suggestions in how to spend your time if your market is slow. 1) Education.  I'm not talking about courses that allow you put designators on your business card.  Though, do not get me wrong, I am not in opposition of collecting designators, it is a nice hobby.  I am talking about the real deal.  So, why not move up the ladder by earning a degree?  About 75% of Americans over the age of 25% have less than a 4 year degree.  It is much less in some states. This is in reference to 2000 Census, so the data is dated, but it is the current Census.  I hope the numbers are better for the 2010 Census, I'm sure they will be.  What would be a better way to position yourself against your competition, when the market is slow? Santee Drive-In Theatre What? You haven't been to the Santee Drive-In Theatre? You gotta put this on your list of things to do! 8th Grade Promotion Junior High is over. It is time to move up to the "big school". Today the 8th grade class at Hill Creek School in Santee were "promoted" to the 9th grade. As I watched the excitement of the parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins....memories of my 8th grade promotion......did we even HAVE 8th grade promotion? Am I THAT old I can't remember? It was only, let's see, (counting on my fingers) (crap, I don't have that many fingers) 28 years ago..... Boy these kids looked so young, but so grown up! I'm going to toss some thoughts out here because members here at ActiveRain cover a large demographic. I'd like to get some input from some of the long-timers who once only knew legacy marketing, vice more modern marketing approaches we have available at our disposal today. The thought ran across my mind the other day that maybe we are re-inventing the wheel?  Really ask ourselves, are we?  How did real estate agents get by successfully in the past without computers and the Internet?
