In taking a look at prices in the housing market in Seal Beach over the last year, we've seen housing prices increase in the market between $400,000 and $900,000.  In May 9009, the median single family price home was 715,000 compared to the median price home in March 2010 of $789,750.  That's an increase of 10% in just less than one year.  The average number of days on the market for this price range in Seal Beach is 71 days. In the million dollar homes of Seal Beach, we see a slightly different market.   Because there are so fewer homes for sale in this price category, the median sold prices vary from month the month.   For example, in May 2009 the median home for sale was $1,075,000.  In April 2010, the median sold price in this category was $2,425,000.  In each of these months, there...

More than 81% of single-family home mortgages in Las Vegas had negative equity in the fourth quarter of 2009, according to Zillow. It may take more than 20 years for the prices to get back to where they were in the peak. 2. Merced, California: As real estate became increasingly unaffordable in the bigger cities like San Francisco, many would-be homebuyers started exploring options in smaller markets, such as Merced. This trend increased real estate demand in Merced, prices appreciated even faster as exotic mortgage products and investor interest hit the market. Area home prices jumped nearly 129% from 2002 to 2006. 3. Phoenix, Arizona: Home prices in Phoenix jumped more than 1...

Community Information for Seal Beach.  I'm Len Stregles, Realtor and resident of Seal Beach, California.  This blog is a means of informing people about the area of Seal Beach, it's activities and it's housing market. I’ve always liked beach towns and Seal Beach is no exception.  I grew up in the Midwest but every summer my family would travel south to visit relatives.  We would all rent a beach cottage on Tybee Island in Georgia.  I loved those summers filled with days on the beach eating boiled peanuts and all the watermelon a young man could eat.       Fast forwarding enough years I don’t want to get out my calculator to figure it out, I now live in the small beach town called Seal Beach.  Seal Beach in some ways is similar to other beach towns in California.  It has a pier that hous...
