TOYS for TOTS Ronald Reagan Library     Now through December 15, 2013     It’s that time of year again when the U.S. Marines start collecting toys for disadvantaged children for Christmas. And again, the Ronald Reagan Library is joining in the effort and accepting new, unwrapped toys of all monetary value; however, any unwrapped toy worth $10 or greater a $2 discount on the general admission (or senior admission) will be given to use the same day that the toy is presented. All toys collected will be distributed in our community by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.   Toys for Tots was founded in 1947 in Los Angeles, CA. Its origin was based on a wife of a marine reservist attempting to donate a Raggedy Ann doll for a needy child at Christmas and no existing charitable organization was ava...

Presents    ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels     now until December 1, 2013   The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center continues in full swing for the rest of the year by continuing to offer great entertainment. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until December 1st, they are presenting that great screenplay by Dale Launer, Stanley Shapiro and Paul Henning, ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’.   This was a great comedy made back in the late 1980’s starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin giving one of their best performances. Not to give the plot (or the outcome) away, but just a teasing hint – it is a story on how two men plot independently and competitively against each other to con an American Heiress out of $50,000. The premise of the play takes place on the French Riviera.   Some incredible musical ada...

Don’t forget to turn back your clocks and end up being left out. We lost that one hour of sleep in the spring … we deserve it back and this Sunday morning at 2:00am is the only chance we will have to get it back.   Enjoy the ‘natural time’ while you can because as we all know, that old Daylight Savings Time will be back before we know it … approximately six months to be exact.   As the days get shorter … and the weather gets cooler … we are awakened to the fact – FALL IS HERE! Be sure to get out and enjoy it … the cool, brisk feeling on your cheeks as you’re all bundled up in a stocking cap, cold-weather jacket, scarf and gloves. Drink in the beauty of the turning of the leaves as they float to the ground … the singing of the wind as it whistles through the trees. Take in those me...
