South Pasadena CA Tournament of Roses Parade Float Update Jan 01, 2015   The countdown to January 1, 2015 is here and it will soon be time for the 126th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade(better known as the Rose Parade).   This is an update of the city of South Pasadena’s entry into the parade.  While most of the floats are professionally designed and built with corporate sponsorship, the city of South Pasadena is one of seven(and is the oldest) self-built floats in the parade.     Late Sunday evening, I stopped by the float building site to check on progress -- flowers have arrived and volunteers are busy working three shifts to make sure everything is in order for the five-and-one-half-mile trip down Colorado Boulevard this Thursday.   This year’s parade theme is “Inspiring Stories” a...

      South Pasadena CA Is Often A Stand In For Small Town America With its many tree-lined streets of character homes and interesting mix of small businesses, South Pasadena, California reminds many of an idyllic example of Small Town America.   So it makes sense that South Pas(as many  locals call their hometown) is often the choice to play Anywhere USA in movies, on television and in advertising.      It’s actually quite a common occurrence.   So you will see trucks with film crews often on city streets or behind businesses. South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade 2015 Float "Still Winning"         On Thursday, January 1, 2015 hundreds of thousands of people on the streets of Pasadena along with millions of people worldwide watching on television will see floats, marching bands and equestrian units walk down Colorado Boulevard for the 126th Tournament of Roses Parade.      This week, I went to the site behind the Veteran's War Memorial on Fair Oaks Avenue where the float is being constructed to see progress for the float by the city of South Pasadena.     The city of South Pasadena has the oldest self-built float in the parade and one of only seven self-built out of the 41 floats in the parade this year.    Most of the floats are built by professional companies with corporate sponsorship. In December of 2014 Trulia.com reported median homes sales prices fell 10.8% in South Pasadena, California between September 2014 to December 2014 to $945,000, from the previous quarter, but jumped 11.1% from the same time in December of  2013. An average home listing price in South Pasadena, California on Trulia was higher 0.6% to $1,200,926 on December 3, 2014 from previous week, and decreased 2.0% from week ending November 12, 2014.
