South Pasadena CA - Winning The Real Estate Jackpot       As I drove past the Arco Gas Station in South Pasadena, I had no idea of what had transpired over the weekend.  This morning, the Pasadena Star News reported a quick pick lottery ticket was sold at the station on Saturday, September 14, 2013.   The station, located at 1200 Fair Oaks Avenue(corner Monterey) was the site of a Powerball ticket worth more than $2.4 million. South Pasadena CA - The Ostrich Farm Work-Live Lofts   Located at 1010 Sycamore Avenue in South Pasadena is the Ostrich Farm Lofts complex.   Yes, this was originally an ostrich farm and quite the tourist attraction in its day.       Originally opened in 1886 by Edwin Cawston, the Cawston Ostrich Farm was the United States’ first ostrich farm.  It has been stated that the original ostriches made their journey from South Africa to Texas and eventually by train to South Pasadena.  Unfortunately, this wasn’t an entirely successful trip as only 18 of the 50 ostriches survived.   Eventually, there was a population of over 100 ostriches at the farm.   During the early part of the 20th century, visitors could be taken on ostrich drawn carriage rides and buy ostrich related items at the factory... 07/02/2013
