How Much Is That Dogma In The Window?     How Much Is That Dogma In The Window?  Every dogma has its day.                                                                                                        Anthony Burgess   Conversations overheard can  often be confusing.  Things out of context.  Indeed.  And more.  The same can be true in a lot of situations.  Recently, I was reading an article.  The word dogma was used.  I thought incorrectly. Or maybe it was intentional for creative license.    But admittedly I get confused at times so I quickly looked up the definition online which informed me:  dogma is a doctrine or a corpus of doctrines relating to matters such as morality and faith.  Set forth in an authoritative or accepted uncritically.  I was right.  A victory of sorts I...

A Critical Choice    A Critical Choice   The world of critical review is interesting to me.  The varied quotes on the subject of criticism and critical review appear to cover a range of opinions much like a review of or by any critic might express.  Positive. Negative. Thumbs-Up.  Thumbs-Down.  For those of you who have followed my posts over the years may know that I enjoy movie-going.  I often choose to see movies that are not widely known. Rarely a box office success in dollars, I see movies to enjoy.  And to experience.  Lots of different reasons.  Obscure may be an appropriate word to describe many of the films I choose to see.   I admit I do follow movie reviews from time-to-time not for a play-by-play but for knowing the basic premise of a film.  Something that grabs my attentio...

The Emperor Wore No Clothes      The Emperor Wore No Clothes  Not really a surprise.   Afterall, most of us can cite an example or two or more in our lives where such "secrets" are/can be unmasked. It happens. Even on ActiveRain where a spammer/scammer was revealed as part of the Q&A section of this forum.   Another spammer or scammer is revealed.  But it happens everyday in some way or another.  Regardless of how mindful or watchful we try to be.   Just this morning I received a text message asking "how i was doing?". The person did not use my name but revealed their own.  My attention was alert.  Just because. And mind you, no coffee.   I want to be your friend on social media.   Other questions would surely follow I am sure had I not cut it off fairly quickly.   Just another day in...

T M IWhen Is It Too Much Information?   It makes you wonder.  What's Up?  There are multiple reasons.  Many of them valid. But perhaps more information is needed.  And that question leads to others such as:  How much?   When  Is It Too Much Information?  And when does it all become too bothersome?  Is it simply just too much?  Too Much Information.  Overload. Maybe.  Of course.  It depends on the situation.  And lots of other factors. Different situations.  Different "standards".  Does being succinct matter?  Being to the point? Pondering won't resolve issues of information, per se.   Nor will it answer questions of a legal nature.  Or common sense.  Logic matters too.  So when does too much information become simply too much.  I guess we know it when we experience it.  Maybe.   Photo ...

Snooze Alarm     I don't usually use an alarm clock.  It's uncommon.  Definitely not typical.   At this time for me.  And for a long time too.  I digress.  I ponder.  There's a valid purpose for using an alarm clock.  And a point.  A time and a place.  Actually times and places have much to do with the actual purpose of an alarm clock I imagine.  But these days the task is taken care of internally rather than externally.  And it works.  Generally.  Everyday.  I have proof too.  Many years. Perhaps decades.  I could go back to the twentieth century.  But I won't.  You get the point. Right?  But the thought of snoozing and snooze alarms came to mind recently.  No specific reason.  And that reason prompts some pondering. Not specifically about alarm clocks. Or even schedules.  Not even tim...

Looking Both Ways   Stop.  Look.  Listen.  Look Again.  You know so much in life goes back to the things we learn long ago.  In real life.  And in real estate.  So many things "real".  The basics. Important.  The foundation.  Often it is said that we must return/get back to the basics.  It may be true in January as we start a new year but it is true throughout the year too.  I recently saw a man and a young child(I think a boy I imagine about five or six years old being held by hand) crossing the street.  Early morning though already light maybe around 8AM.  Not crossing in a  crosswalk.  In traffic.  Nothing happened thankfully.  But lessons  are "out there".  An opportunity to teach.  And to inform.  To share.  Especially since there is an elementary school just around the corner.  T...
