Log homes and the FHA 203k... in Oakland to San DiegoWho would have guessed? Actually it isn't too far fetched, they have been there for many years.This home is a real log cabin in Oakland CA. The exterior walls are rounded split logs, not fully rounded logs, they are flat on the inside and this cabin walls are about 4"-5" thick as I recall. This home would normally be very difficult to finance as many lenders won't touch this type of log cabin. We planned to install a new 2x4" interior wall and framing to carry the load as this home had upright logs currently carrying the load. The lender we were attempting to use wanted nothing to do with it.    This is a typical modern log home.
