Experts say 2013 might be the year to finally buy a home for many Americans. From what I've been seeing, the numbers certainly support the notion. As noted in a recent Wall Street Journal article, the number of homes for sale in the United States fell to a 13-year low in January, leaving many buyers chasing a shrinking supply of homes. And according to the National Association of Realtors, there was an average of just 4.8 months of supply of existing homes for sale in 2012 Q4 (in other words, it would take approximately 4.8 months to sell off the amount of inventory at the current pace). The normal supply of existing homes for sale is usually around 6 months worth.
