Local Vistan's are planning a music festival fund raiser. An effort is afoot in Vista, California to keep the pitchy drones of recorders and ping of xylophones alive in Vista elementary schools classrooms. The "Save Vista Music" campaign spearheaded by several music instructors, parents and the owner of a Vista music management company is aimed at keeping music in the district's 17 elementary schools campuses. The centerpiece of the ambitious effort is a three-day music festival May 6-8, 2011 in which they are hoping to raise enough money to save the program which faced dramatic cuts otherwise. Vista, California has joined a number of other North San Diego Cities that have rejected a "Crash Tax"  this is a fee paid by the motorists who cause accidents that require an emergency response. Vista's City council was poised to enact the fee in July 2010, in an effort to bridge the $9 million budget gap. Instead it called a halt to work being done by city personal to determine the cost. About 60 jurisdictions statewide have implemented the fee. Some have chosen to charge only out-of-town drivers. Vista, however would have targeted all drivers, regardless of where they live. Local Vista, California residents rally at the recent Vista City Council meeting to spurred on the City's lack of follow through on providing a new skate board park as promise. Two recent deaths of local Vista skate boarders has incited the families to gather support for a promised skate board park that was to replace the one that was razed to build the new Vista Civil Center. Last October 2010 the Vista Community clinc, in Vista, Ca., opened it new offices on La Tortuga Drive. Now they are annoucing another expansion. The current location of one their facilities on Vale Terrace is being renovated to expand by 31,000 square feet. it will include 24 exam rooms, offices, waiting rooms conference rooms and classrooms. The expansion will create 42 new jobs and be build with $11.4 million in grant funding. Cell Service on Gopher Canyon in Vista CA...FINALLY!!! I have noticed something fabulous over the last week or so...I tested it on day one...made it all the way through.  I tested it on day two...made it all the way through.  I tested it on day three...made it all the way through yet again!!!  I am talking about Gopher Canyon in Vista, people...there must be a new cell tower or something - because as one of the few "holes" left in cell service in North San Diego County - it was a constant thorn in my side.  I drive that road (10 min. each way to get to the I-15 freeway in Vista) at least 4 times a day Monday through Friday!  I am on the road 2 hours a day minimum...and this stretch really put a kink in my productivity.  I could chat away on my headset, dictating notes, talking to friend...
