Do You Ever Ask Your Kids & Grandkids To Explain What Memorial Day Is?               I ask this question because I happened to  be watching Water's World on the O'Rielly Factor this past week whence he was asking students, with some of America's greatest higher learning institutions in the background, not only about Memorial Day but about Independence Day (4th of July for those who may not know), Labor Day and even Thanksgiving.   I was shocked at how many young minds in America today don't have a clue about what these holidays really mean to Americans. Some of the answers were so off the mark, unrealistic and rediculous I couldn't beleive they were real.   When I was taking a walk with one of my 7 year old Grandaughters yesterday I asked her what she thought Memorial Day stood for. Giv...

A Moment To Reflect On Why We Are All Here To Celebrate  Memorial Day. THOMAS JEFFERSON, SOMETHING WE SHOULD ALL KNOW!   How many people even have a clue about this man in today's world? Not just the personal information but what he did for this country, and most of all what he foresaw in the future for this country. You may ask yourself; How could he foresee what would happen in the future? Very basic answer; he knew history and had experienced history, and he understood mankind!     Thomas Jefferson was a very remarkable man who started learning very early in life and never stopped.   At 5, he began studying under his cousin's tutor.   At 9, he studied Latin, Greek and French.   At 14, he studied classical literature and several languages.   At 16, he entered the College of William an...

Californian? Republican or Democrat Have You Registered To Vote?          If you're a Californian have you registered to vote for the June 6th primary as a Republican or Democrat?                   Today is the DROP DEAD DAY                                            DEADLINE.     For the benefit of those who don't know, and I've spoken with many over the past several weeks that don't and were shocked when I told them, if you're not a "REGISTERED REPUBLICAN" or "DEMOCRAT"  you will not be able to vote for a candidate in those parties until you register as such . Not an Independent or Libertarian.    You have to be registered as a REPUBLICAN or DEMOCRAT in order to vote and the deadline is today.  You can go directly to the Registrar of voters in San Diego in person or sign up online o...

SoCal Turf Removal Rebate Program Has Come To An End As of Last Thur. On July 8th I submitted a post Titled  "SoCal Turf Removal Program Rebate Could Earn You Thousands of Dollars". As of this past Thursday the Southern California Water District has halted this program has come to an end I felt that inasmuch as I posted this on the AR platform that I should inform anyone who may have read it and perhaps shared it with others that it has indeed ended. Sorry for any inconvenience.  I will still follow up next wee with the AFTER photos I promised just to show anyone who might be interested what can be done to conserve water by removing grass/turf and replacing it with a nice drought tolerant landscape with drip and rotary irrigation.

SoCal Turf Removal Program RebateCould Earn You Thousands of Dollars I recently found out about this program downloaded the free enrollment package, submitted it and voila...................I'm now qualified to receive in excess of a $10,000  rebate for removing my existing turf/grass and replacing it with drought tolerant landscape that frankly I find much more attractive than a mundane plot of land with a glob of grass that you get to water, mow, weed and watch grow. Whoopee!!! Here's how it works. Please take a few moments to peruse the information below and if you think you qualify by all means take some more time and fill out the application and submit it while the funds are still available. It's a win win for you your neighborhood and your environment. The photos show the property...

Inspired By A Post I Just Read This Morning by Steven Hawrylak. Steven Hawrylak What is your idea of a "Dream Home"?  Indeed I have always wanted to live in my dream home so in 1980 I decided to do something about it. I wanted a large home with an ideal climate on a flat hilltop with an ocean view not far from the ocean as I have a family of surfers and we've always lived close to the beach. So I started my search in the beautiful North San Diego County area. It took me about 3 years but that was OK because by that time we were reeling from the Carter years and our first Savings and Loan debacle whence interest rates had sky rocketed from 18-21% causing home values to plummet by 50% or more depending on the area. But I kept looking and one day in the beautiful town of Vista, CA I found ...

When it comes to escrow services your escrow officer is a key component to making the transaction successful. It is key to use a company that you trust and you have open communication with if you have the choice to choose services. We have had the pleasure of working with Adrienne Hofreiter of Preferred Escrow Services on serveral transactions. She handled our file with care and always kept all parties in the loop. In a Real Estate transaction it is key that everyone is on the same page at all times. We were always able to get a hold of someone at the office even when Adrienne was helping other clients. If you are in need of an Escrow Officer who will handle your file with priority please take our advice and contact Adrienne! Her office is located in Carlsbad off of Palomar Airport Rd....

Looking to sell?? Here are common mistakes that willlessen the value of your home.  1.   Overly upgrading- When upgrading your home, make sure you are spending money that will get you a possible return. If you put up remote control blinds in a $250,000 home in a bad part of town you are not going to get your money back from that investment. Try putting in new carpet or doing a fresh paint job those are things that really make sense to most buyers.    Lack of upgrading- Did you put in a lot of money towards an upgraded kitchen but nothing else in the house is upgraded? Yes, the kitchen is nice but now the rest of the house looks even more out dated. Try taking care of the main items that will create a sense of flow in your floor plan/design.  Overly customized- Yes, YOU probably love a...

ISIS CRISIS    Coming To A Neighborhood Near You  Should the Real Estate Industry be concerned about this growing threat? I know there's been several posts submitted to AR recently about bearing arms, traveling in pairs, meeting in public places, etc. due to some of the strange things that have happened to them while in the line of their daily RE duties i.e. open houses, being followed by strangers, stalking, etc.   However, what about terrorism? I know it's a very difficult subject to discuss and lots of folks literally choke on it. But could it become a reality? If so how might it impact us in our real estate farms, communities, neighborhoods and homes. It's a known fact that technology can zero in on our whereabouts everywhere, anywhere, and at anytime in any neighborhood....

TERRORISM?   Not In My Backyard? We Need Neighborhood Watch On steroids.   TERRORISM     Yes, it's a very ugly word and no one likes to even hear the word let alone discuss it or even think about it. In fact many folks living in the USA in the comforts and confines of their humble abode think that anyone who does talk about it is a conspiracy theorist or perhaps even some kind of nut case.   Well, call me a nut case if you wish but having been a DISASTER RESPONSE CONTRACTOR for the past 3 decades I can tell you first hand that those who find themselves a victim after any disaster are either very lucky and fortunate to have taken the time to heed the warnings and advice and get and stay prepared for a disaster or certainly wish they had if they didn't.  If they didn't they are now more t...

Foundation Problems? Tips for Hiring a Foundation Contractor Part 3     In Part 1 we discussed FOUNDATION REPAIR INFORMATION for Homeowners and Engineers. Part 2 addressed FOUNDATION ISSUES and the Cost Involved. Part 3 will address:   Tips for Hiring a Foundation Repair Contractor     Foundation work is definitely not a do-it-yourself project, so it makes good sense to get at least three licensed contractors to give you a detailed proposal along with an assessment of your issues. The average inspection takes about two hours. Ron Davidson of Ram Jack Systems also offers the following advice and precautionary measures:   - Educate yourself on foundation repair methods and ask a lot of questions. Don’t make your final decision based on advertising and cheap prices. If it sounds too good t...
