Blue Green and Red: Cesar Pelli Architecture In Los Angeles

As we meandered around our former commercial real estate farm in the wee hours of the morning, we noticed the newest building of the Pacific Design Center. The long awaited Red building was reflected into the Blue One. The Blue building was the first one to be built and was affectionately known as the "Blue Whale". The first notable tenant other than furniture wholesale designers was Mrs. Gooch" which offered organic foods and was a predecessor to Whole Foods in 1975. The Green building was completed in 1988, and 40 years later the Red building, two curved sloping towers on top of seven levels of parking was completed in 2012 on this 14 acre site.
