Time for the Tour with Wende by the Bay.  Tuesday, February 1, under clear blue skies and temperatures in the high-50’s to mid-60’s, the San Mateo County Association of Realtors SAMCAR had 281 homes on tour, 70 of which were in Wende’s 6 Select Cities of the San Francisco Peninsula - San Carlos, Redwood City, Woodside, Atherton, Menlo Park and Portola Valley.  Of those 70, less than 25 were true new listings, pointing to the fact that the inventory of homes for sale continues to remain small.  What this means for buyers and sellers is that homes that show well and are priced well are selling within a matter of weeks, sometimes days, and often over asking price.  At the same time, those properties that don’t hit the mark right out of the gate often sit for several months and end up selli...

For Homes on the San Francisco Peninsula Tuesday is tour day in San Mateo County.  The tour is sponsored by 2 realtor boards, San Mateo County Association of Realtors, and SILVAR, Silicon Valley Association of Realtors.  The tour for today, January 11, 2011, highlighted a total of 275 residential listings, including many in Wende's Select Cities at Home on the San Francisco Peninsula.  In Atherton 1 of the 2 homes on tour was newly listed.  The lowest priced property was $1,999,000, and the highest price was $3,495,000. There were 17 properties on tour, 8 of which were new in Menlo Park.  The lowest priced was listed at $250,000 and the highest was $2,685,000. Portola Valley was without any homes on tour today. SATURDAY SEP. 4 - MONDAY SEP.6KINGS MOUNTAIN ART FAIR With over 130 artist booths, arts and crafts for the kids and plenty of food and drink, The Kings Mountain Art Fair is a great way to spend the Labor Day Weekend. I used to take my kids there every year and although the traffic going up 92 was pretty bad (and I’m sure its only gotten worse) it was worth the trip because of how much fun we all would have. Plus, it’s always about ten degrees cooler up in the Redwoods, so it’s an especially good idea with the weather as it is.And if all that’s not enough to convince you, all the proceeds benefit the Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade and Elementary School.Here's the website!

This past weekend I held open a house in Woodside listed for $1,795,000.  Several groups came through and interestingly enough all were long term peninsula  residents who were looking to either down size or trade up to a larger house. All agreed that houses were selling in their neighborhoods and they felt that the peninsula continued to be a solid location.   They also indicated  that stable prices in the area meant that this was a good time for them to consider a move.  I have always felt that open houses are a good guage of both  buyer and seller sentiment.  Charts and graphs are a wonderul measure of past activity but open house activity reflects current sentiment that can  translate into future trends. Eric Jacobsen received the gift of Sammy Sosa's autograph given to him personally by Sosa, Wednesday afternoon at McAfee Coliseum in Oakland, California. The soon-to-be 9 year old travelled with his dad on a 48-hour late summer baseball quest. Hosted by Jim Byrnes, the father of MLB Star Eric Byrnes, Jacobsens were given access to the "tunnel" where Orioles sluggers made their way to the bus.
