I'll have to tell you a lesson learned for a neighbor.  The other day we drove back home from the store and as we got out of the car we looked down the street to see a nieghbor's garage door open and nothing but soot up the front and side of the garage.  It was not burning and we hadn't been gone long so it must have been a quick fire.  I walked down to see if we could help with anything and the neighbor told me he had started a generator and turned away only for a minute.  When he turned back around the garage was on fire.  The only damage. as I saw it, was in the garage.  I asked if the entrance door from the garage into the house was closed for the fire and he said the only time it was open was when he ran in got got his wife out of the house.If your garage is attaced to your home, h... 07/21/2008

Have you ever hired an inspector and then get a call from them saying, "The utilities aren't on, I cannot perform the inspection."? And maybe they want to come back again and it costs again...well, I'm not going to talk about the money, but rather give you all a "war-story".  I was hired to inspect a home and upon arrival I found the water at the front hose bib was present but nothing in the house.  Further, the electricity was on but the Main was off, essentially making the electricity off in the house.  I flipped on the Main and yep, power!  I performed the home inspection except the internal plumbing, but really wanted to finish the inspection for my clients.  I searched for the shutoff valve for the home and finally found it; it was an in-line filter and the valve was closed.  Reluc... 07/16/2008

This was an incredible weekend.  We took the RV out, not far from home, and camped at a local RV Park.  We had a great time at the place called Sycamore Ranch RV Park.  While we were there my wife and I were talking about her parent's home in NE PA, and she told me that for as long as she remembered the toilets flushed really slowly.  Here's why we were talking about this: Just before we left for our short trip we were about to launch into a money venture to replace our toilet.  For the last few weeks the toilet was really slow to flush.  We'd push the handle and the bowl would fill (not even close to over filling) and it left behind (no pun intended) a little bathroom tissue.  We could fill a bucket with water and the toilet had no problem getting rid of everything in the bowl.  So I c... 07/07/2008

The two counties are the 36th fastest-growing metro area from the percentages the Census Bureau released April 5, 2007. The Yuba Sutter counties grew by more than 22,600+ people from 4/00 -7/1/06 the United States Census Bureau reported. In the metro areas that were in the 100 fastest growing counties Yuba City's growth percentage wise is 16.3% according to the report. The area has more consumer friendly prices than Sacramento and Placer County which drove the area's homes to the figures reported by the Census Bureau.  04/06/2007
