Tucked away in a corner of Canon City is the small neighborhood Firemans Bluff. Just off of 4th street on the south side of town before you get to Prospect Heights. Most houses have a view of the upper Arkansas Valley and Canon City. The twenty three houses here are all brick, between 1800 square feet and 2700 square feet and sell for between $180,000 and $285,000.

I have to share how grateful I am for technology, most of us can work from home, a coffee shop or occasionally an office. Plenty has been written about lap tops, the best cell phones, fax, scanners, digital cameras and other gadgets that we as professionals can't seem to live without. It is beeps, buzzes, vibrates, has a memory chip, flashes, works on batteries and is wireless we are good to go! Where's the chocolate? Today I'm grateful for all that stuff because I can stay at home and stay connected. Saturday night my YorkiePoo Hershey bit my a Chihuahua Nestle. I hope you never have to see anything as pitiful as a Chihuahua with only one eye,and a protective collar trying to get out a doggy door. Thank you Dr. Denise White and the Kenline Veterinary Clinic 1426 S. 9th St. Canon City C...

Canon City Colorado is well known for it's Music and Blossom Festival every year. Bands come from all over the country to march in the parade. Last year bands came from as far as California and Oklahoma. The parade also hosts floats, clowns and cheerleaders. This parade attacks thousands of visitors. The city also has an abundance of flowering trees. The trees benefit from the rich soil and the water from the Arkansas river. During World War II apple tree farms lined the river. With a careful eye you can still see very old and very large trees. I took these pictures today April 6th, 2007 just before an ice storm. Canon City sits in the upper Arkansas River Valley. Those of us that are residents love the climate, atmosphere and have made many life long friends. I'm proud to call Fremont ...

Fremont county Colorado is known for many things: The Royal Gorge and Bridge, The Arkansas River, The Super Max prison, dinosaurs, panoramic views, and Skyline Drive.Skyline Drive is a narrow road that runs on top of the Dakota hog back. Parts of this road are more than 800 feet above the base of the hill. But the views are spectacular. My first trip was with my Realtor  after I made a comment about seeing a car on top of that mountain. After I recovered from my first experience I started taking guests on Skyline. Although there are few places to park you can get wonderful views of Canon City, the mountain range and oh yes that is highway #50 below.

If I look out my living room window, I see a beautiful mesa. On the other side of that mesa is a place commonly known as Chandler. In the early 1900's a Coal Mining company called Chandler Mining moved into a small location south of Canon City. Towns such as Brookside, Brewster, Mexico, Rockvale, Williamsburg and Coal Creek all mined coal, gold and oil. The three later towns still exist today. As a ‘company' town Chandler built the rail road tracks into the town. The train carried in the very basics of necessity including the buildings that would be homes, stores and the school. Some of these buildings are still in the area although not in their original locations. Houses were sold off and moved into the neighboring towns. Today the only occupants of Chandler are deer, elk, coyote, hawk...

Fremont County Colorado is known for many, many things. Mostly it is known for the Royal Gorge Bridge, the Arkansas River, Dinosaurs, and prisons. But I think mostly the residents of the area appreciate the beauty. The Arkansas River Valley is surrounded by spectacular mountains, including Pikes Peak. I grew up in Los Angeles, you’ve been there or at least seen it in the movies. Fremont county is everything L.A. isn’t. It’s quite, calm, beautiful, scenic and you don’t have to wait two hours to get a table for dinner. In fact it sometimes hard to dine out on a holiday weekend, the owners are out enjoying themselves as well!!Today while Colorado Springs and Denver were without power and buried under a heavy fall snow I went out and took some fall pictures. I invite you to come for a visit...

Once in awhile I get asked about out lying areas around Pueblo. First time visitors will often remark that Pueblo has few trees and the mountains are to far away. Depending on your perspective, this is true. I live near Canon City and appreciate how lovely it is. It is slightly hilly and does get snow on occasion. It’s called the Banana Belt of the Rockies. Fremont county tends to get all four seasons.  Yes, it has 15 prisons including the Super Max in Florence. And that is a big part of what Fremont county is, but that’s not all it is. Please come visit Bishops Castle, the Royal Gorge Bridge, Dinosaur Museum, the Arkansas River, antique and art galleries and so much more. Visit me and I'll make you some pumpkins soup from scratch, I even grow the pumpkins!
