Scenes From the Cedaredge Gingerbread House Building Contest...A Benefit for Habitat for Humanity. This was the first year for this event. It's called Gingerbread for Humanity. There was a large turnout for this first year event. There was also a silent auction held in conjunction with the gingerbread house building. Items for the auction were donated by local merchants.       This was an event designed to bring the family together. It's families helping families. Moms, dads, brothers, sisters, cousins and grandparents all had a great time together. Other activities were planned, too. The face painting was really popular with all of the kids. Winter Storms Come and Go and Leave Behind Their Own Beauty. The Cedaredge Area of Delta County, Colorado didn't get as much snow as other parts of the county or even other parts of the state. The storm started off as rain, before the snow fell. This was our first big snow of the 2013-2014 winter season. It rained for hours before turning to snow during the early morning hours. Frustrated Sprint Cell Service Customers Speak Out...Cedaredge, CO. A handful of Sprint customers gathered in Cedaredge to tell a reporter the troubles they are having with their Sprint cell service. Channel 5 television news, from Grand Junction, was there to listen. It's no secret that customers of this cell phone service provider are having issues. My family uses Sprint and most of the time we can't get in touch with each other. Most Sprint Customers haven't had cell service for two months, or have had interrupted service. Many customers have called the cell service provider and were told a cell tower was being upgraded. Cedaredge CO High School Band 2013 State Champs Again. For the third straight year, the Cedaredge Marching Band has won the state championship. This year the band really stood out and made it's mark. This year The Bruins Band won in true style and set another record. The band is in the state 1A Division. That's for really small schools. The band won the state championship by getting the most points of any school in the 1A Division...ever. Last year the band set a record by having the fewest members to win a state championship. Scenes From The Cedaredge Dog Jog 2013. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful fall day for this fund raiser event. This is the second year for the Cedaredge Dog Jog, and it was great to see even more dogs show up with their people than last year. There was a lot of meeting and greeting going on as some dogs got to see old friends and make new friends.       We started off the day with a one or two mile walk. Then it was back to the park for more fun with fido. Lunch was included for those that paid the entry fee. There were also other events and chances to win prizes for you and your dog. Dogs got to compete against each other in a timed run through a maze and an agility course. A lot of dogs were dressed up in costumes and ready for the costume contest. The Cedaredge High School Band is Headed to Another State Championship. The 2013 Cedaredge High School Marching Band has done it again. The band program at CHS is incredible. In the last ten years, the band has won five State Championship Titles. So let's have a drum roll please for this wonderful group of teenagers. Last year the CHS marching band won the state division 1A title. In 2012 the band was also the smallest ( in number of members ) band to win a state title. They set a state record for that distinction, too. The Colorado Bandmasters Association State Marching Band Championships are coming up soon. Cedaredge Main Street Project...Stop on By and Help Us Watch the Concrete Dry. It's been a long and noisy summer and fall with the construction all around us, but we are nearing the end. It's really cool when the whole building shakes from the heavy equipment. It makes you feel like you are  in an earthquake. Right now we are all using the backdoor. It's easier than putting on your hiking boots for a trip to the office. The sidewalk is gone from in front of the building. The crew is preparing to pour concrete.
