It's Too Early for This...3AM Snow Scene Cedaredge Colorado. Yeah early in the day and early in the season. Really it can snow at any time in the higher elevations of Colorado, but when you see this around 6000 feet you know winter is on the way. It's too early in the season for this...but Mother Nature has other ideas.  What looks like mist is a very wet snow falling. It started collecting on the tree leaves and made a great early morning scene. But you might be wondering what I was doing out at 3AM.  This wet snowfall caused some tree branches to break and fall on power lines. At least that's my best guess. Schedule of Events for the 2013 Cedaredge Applefest. Applefest is this weekend and that's what everyone in town is talking about. It's always the first full weekend in October. This event has been going on for over 35 years, and it gets bigger and better every year. Here's a rundown of the events for this year's Applefest. * The Chili Supper is on October 3, 2013. This is a benefit for the volunteer fire department. Pick your favorite chili, and hopes it wins. * The Golden Gala is October 4, 2013. The Creekside Cafe...A Wonderful Choice for Dining in Cedaredge, CO. This restaurant is located along a year around ditch...hence the name Creekside Cafe. It's one of many dining options in Cedaredge, CO, and my favorite place for breakfast and lunch. You can sit inside or make yourself at home on the outdoor deck overlooking the creek. Enjoy the sounds of the creek while you enjoy your meal. The staff is pleasant and polite. The service is good, and the food even better. Cindy Webster and her husband Eddie own The Creekside Cafe. Cindy makes all of the pies from scratch. They are the best pies I've ever had. I'm not a big desert person, but every now and then I have to save room for a piece of Cindy's pie. Cedaredge Main Street Improvement Project Running Behind Schedule. The plan was to finish the project before the town's Applefest Celebration. Hopes were running high this was going to happen, but the official word is the project won't be done before Applefest. Construction delays, waiting on materials and weather have put the project behind schedule. Enough work is started and  completed, that Applefest visitors will be able to visualize how this will all look when it's done. About half of the sidewalks are done, trees and shrubs are planted and some of the sitting areas are in place. The retaining wall on the south side is up. It's all starting to look very nice, indeed. 2013 Applefest Cedaredge, CO Time to Celebrate the Harvest. The morning air has a chill to it telling us that fall is almost here, and that means it's time for Applefest. This is the 36th year for the event and it keeps getting bigger and better every year. This year the event is on October 5th and 6th, 2013.    Applefest is always the first full weekend in October, but the events start on the Thursday before the weekend with the chili cookoff to support our local volunteer fire department. Friday is the Golden Gala which is a great date night event. The weekend's activities kick off bright and early Saturday morning with the Applefest 5k. Cedaredge Colorado Main Street Improvement Project on Track. Business owners and citizens of Cedaredge are patiently waiting and watching as Main Street gets a facelift. The main part of the project is done. That was installing the storm drainage system. Now work has been started on the sidewalks, curb and barrier wall. Everything should be done in time for  the 36th Annual Applefest, and that will be the big unveiling for the project. About 10,000 people come to Cedaredge, CO for Applefest weekend.   The project basically has Main Street closed. At one point you could drive west through town, but there's too much going on to keep that lane open. Wolves in Colorado...Not in My Backyard. There aren't suppose to be wolves in Colorado. Reportedly the last one was killed around 1940. I've heard the stories from friends and others that talk about wolf sightings. I never put much stock in those stories. I always just dismissed the tale as someone seeing a wolf looking dog running through the woods. Then I had my own experience. I remember the night very well. Keep in mind the Grand Mesa National Forest is practically in my front yard. We've had bears and mountain lions come by for a visit...so why not a wolf? It was the night before New Year's Eve several years ago. I was out on my deck. I heard a sound and instantly went to dismiss it as a coyote. It's time to get together and see some old friends you haven't seen in a while and to make new friends. This is a community get together for everyone in the community. Yee Haw...It's Time for Little Britches Rodeo, Cedaredge, Colorado Style. It's that time of year when you go to your closet and pull out your wide brimmed cowboy hat (unless you already wear one year round), and dust off the cowboy boots. It's time for The Cedaredge Little Britches Rodeo. The 2013 event will take place starting on Friday, July 12th. It will run all weekend. Participants and visitors travel from near and far. The Town of Cedaredge makes everyone feel welcome with a parade at noon on Saturday. That's right after the Lion's Club BBQ which starts at 11:00. This picture was taken early on Friday evening.
