Our warm daytime temperatures can easily make us forget that fall is just around the corner. Although some of the trees are already changing color, and it's beginning to look a bit like fall around here. Grand Mesa Color Sunday is set for September 25th this year. The Grand Mesa Visitor Center will be open from 9am to 5pm. This is a great time to explore and enjoy the beauty of fall on the mesa. There are a few things happening in the town of Mesa...the annual arts and crafts show and the 4H Turkey Dinner. Real Estate activity is typically slow in Cedaredge Estates. This is a stable neighborhood that people love to call home. There isn't a lot of turnover. So far this year we've seen three homes sell with an average selling price of $153,166. The median selling price is $153,500...so you can see the homes are all very similarly priced. There hasn't been any change in the neighborhood real estate information since last month's report. Right now there is one home for sale. This real estate report covers the Cedaredge area and also the surrounding small communities of Austin, Eckert and Cory. The weather certainly creates a lot of photo opportunities for me. We've had unsettled weather for the last week. The rain has been nice and it's cooled off the temperatures. I was showing property a couple of days ago when I took these pictures. My buyers were meeting me at a house, and I had some time before they showed up. Last season the Cedaredge Bruins made it into the first round of the state playoffs. This year everyone is looking forward to another great season. Last year the team finished with an overall record of 7 - 3 and a league record of 3 - 2. These numbers include the playoff game. The Division 1A Bruins start off this season with a home game against Monte Vista. That game is 9/2 at 7PM at the Cedaredge High School. Here's a full schedule for the 2016 season. Some games of local interest include the one against the Paonia Eagles on 9/30. That's a home game. Northridge is a wonderful neighborhood just north of Cedaredge. It's out of town, but yet close enough that it's not an inconvenience to make a quick trip to town. The neighborhood lies on both the east and west side of Highway 65. The east side tends to have wide open lots with nice mountain and valley views. This is a neighborhood that has seen some major improvement over the last year. Increased buyer activity and a diminishing foreclosure market have really helped neighborhood property values. There are some slight changes in the market since last month's report.  One home has sold in the last month. The average sales price for this neighborhood is $206,500. Compare that to last year when the average sales price was $127,500. This area of Colorado is known for it's produce. We are famous for peaches, apples and sweet corn. Most people find it interesting when they learn we are part of the banana belt. I have a large personal veggie garden and a somewhat smaller herb garden. Probably the biggest challenge I face is keeping the deer out of my garden. Deer are the biggest garden pest we have. I love home grown tomatoes. I plant anywhere from 25 to 30 plants each year. Days before the parade you know it's Serenity Run time in Cedaredge. You can see it, hear it and sometimes feel it. It's the loud noises from a couple of hundred well tuned motorcycles that clue you in. Varoom, varoom.Cedaredge has welcomed the Serenity Run Riders since 1986. If you aren't familiar with ISR, this is a very large group of motorcyclists that celebrate a clean and sober life away from drugs and alcohol. It's pretty neat to see all of these riders heading up and down the highway together. Lately those expressions have been heard a lot around Cedaredge. It seems we've hit the hottest part of summer. At least I hope so, because I don't want it to get any hotter. Over the last week or so the daytime highs have been up in the mid to high 90s. There is a seasonal creek that runs through our town park. During the summer months, you can see the local kids (and some adults) soaking their feet to cool off.  This area of Colorado is part of the banana belt.
