With the holiday season in full swing gratitude is on my mind a lot.  Yesterday was a great example and a shout out to a small business here in Colorado Springs.  I have clients who wanted to get a large map (several of them) for a development here in Colorado Springs.  We were having trouble tracking down the map and I finally went down to the City of Colorado Springs Planning and Development office.  They were simply outstanding not just in having time to help me but going the extra mile to give me multiple options and let me "borrow" the map to go and get copies made. Art Hardware is a locally owned company located at 119 E. Costilla Street (between Tejon & Nevada) with great parking right out front.  I walked in and who they are as a business and people was immediately apparent.  He...

It is hard to believe that tomorrow is October 1st and we are in the midst of fall.   Colorado is beautiful in the fall.  I don't watch television but I love spending time outdoors.  The following is a list of five of my favorite suggestions of things to do outside in the fall.   1.  Enjoy the fall colors.  The fall is especially beautiful when the aspens turn a golden yellow.   Living in Colorado Springs, my personal favorite drive is to take the Gold Camp Road , which to the west of the Broadmoor hotel in  Colorado Springs.  This route meanders through Pikes Peak Forest and ends up in the quaint mining town of Victor. It is a slow, scenic dirt road so I normally head back to Colorado Springs by going through Cripple Creek, Divide and Woodland Park.           Unfortunately, the golden ...

I provide professional commercial tenant representation services to businesses looking to grow locally or move into the Colorado Springs from elsewhere. I particularly love finding commercial space in Colorado Springs for entrepreneurs who are starting new businesses. The advantage of a tenant rep who knows Colorado SpringsI know the community intimately, which gives my clients an advantage. Having grown up here and then writing about commercial real estate and development for the Colorado Springs Business Journal, I am more aware than the average broker about what’s happening, what plans are afoot for new development, who owns properties and how particular owners and external factors can impact long-term viability for particular properties.I use the depth of my community knowledge and c...

We are fortunate in Colorado Springs to have excellent schools. Nearly all of our public school districts claim high-ranking and often award-winning schools on GreatSchools.org.Beyond relying on sites like GrestSchools.org, which use several objective criteria to grade education institutions, identifying the best schools in Colorado Springs is a tricky business. The real reason it’s hard is that the best school is always going to be the one that’s best for your child, which might not have anything to do with test scores, student-to-teacher-ratios or funding. It could just be the school with the right culture for your child. The good news is that Colorado Springs is a choice community. If your neighborhood school isn’t serving your child, you can hunt for one that’s a better fit and choice...

There is a hidden treasure in Colorado Springs that many locals drive by every day and visitors often miss.  It is the Olympic Training Center.  Yes, this is actually where Olympians and future Olympians come to train and prepare. There is not only a lot to walk around and see in the tour (plan on about 45 minutes for that) often lead by an Olympic hopeful...  Who knows, you might just be up close and personal with a future medal winner.  The Training Center also houses a tremendous amount of Olympic history with medals, photos, teams and stories about past Olympics and Olympians.   The Olympic Training Center has up to 500 athletes and coaches at one time on 35 acres of land located at U.S. Olympic Training Center 1 Olympic Plaza | Colorado Springs, CO 80909.  Tour tickets can be purch...

Have you ever taken a tube down a river or a water slide?  It is just fun and with friends can be a great way to spend the day.  Colorado Springs is having  "Slide the City" again this year this Saturday, August 21, 2016. The slide is 1,000 feet long and 24 feet wide so there is room for plenty of people & fun to slide.  Colorado Springs boasts one of the best hills with up to a 7% grade for a fun slide and ride.   What this means in addition to getting your tube ready is that 21st Street from Gold Camp Road to Hwy 24 is going to be closed.  You can get a ticket for a two hour slide window which gives you a priority on the slide but you can stay and enjoy the festivities the entire day.  Tickets range from $24 - $65. Hours are 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.
