Hello Everyone, Well to my surprise and the surprise of many the appeal for the initial decision on Snodgrass has been denied.  Now many of you may think this may be a huge blow for Mount Crested Butte but it may be a blessing in disguise.  With Snodgrass not being the main focus Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) can focus on our current mountain and it’s lack of amenities.  Plans are in motion right now for the North Mountaineer Square, our current dirt parking lot, which will be transformed into an amenity rich base area with two levels of covered parking, restaurants, shops and new conference center (click link below to view Master Vision).  In the years past we have enjoyed over 500,000 skier visits a year with our current terrain so obviously everyone who visits, owns or plans ...

New Home Sales Soar 15% in April NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — New home sales soared in April as homebuyers rushed to claim the tax credit that expired at the end of the month. New home sales climbed 14.8% to a seasonally adjusted rate of 504,000 last month, up from an upwardly revised 439,000 in March, the Census Bureau reported on Wednesday. Sales year-over-year were up 47.8%. Hi Everyone, Looks like the market is picking up and after yesterdays drop in the stock market I suspect we will see even more money going toward real estate transactions.  The key word in real estate is real of which the stock market is this entity that no one can grasp.  I think we will be reporting some good numbers by the end of the year for real estate.  I've seen the signs in Crested Butte as prices have dropped more than 50%.  If you ever need help with real estate in Crested Butte, please do not hesitate to call me. In fact, twice as many homes, condos and townhomes have sold year-to-date compared to the 1st quarter of 2009.41 properties have closed in 2010 versus 22 sales during the same time frame in 2009.This represents over $18 million worth of Crested Butte real estate investment in 2010. Additionally, there are 18 properties under contract representing $11 million. According to a survey report by the National Association of Realtors, sales of new and previously owned vacation homes rose last year, while investment-home sales dropped. Here are some of the highlights from the NAR's 2010 Investment and Vacation Home Buyers Survey. The survey includes responses from residents in 1,930 randomly selected households who bought residential real estate in 2009. The association conducted the survey in March 2010 and controlled for age and income. Vacation-home sales increased 7.9 percent to 553,000 in 2009 from 513,000 in 2008 [3], the report said. The market share for vacation homes rose to 10 percent, from 9 percent in 2008. View The Crested Butte Real Estate Insider 2010 Issue #3 Online Seems like all we hear about these days is news of ski resort failures, declining skier visits and global warming killing winter but according to a recent industry report, the U.S. ski industry continues to rack up revenues. Ski resorts in the United States have shown steady increases in revenue over the last five years, according to research firm IbisWorld.  The New York Times ran an article recently about the results of an IbisWorld report on the state of the United States ski resort industry.  Interestingly, in 2009 the U.S. ski resort industry reached $2.6 billion in revenues.  IbisWorld is forecasting a 6% increase for 2010 - or $2.72 billion in revenues. The ski industry's biggest players - Intrawest and Vail Resorts ...

Of the 19 single family homes that sold in the town of Crested Butte last year, days on market was 371 and the average sales price was 74% of the original list price. Unreal! I have personally heard of many people getting threats of eviction here in Crested Butte. Some banks have offered cash for keys to move out within 30 days but always with a threat of eviction if you don't.
