Greetings from Estes Park! Tis the season...so I thought I would share one of my favorite shops in Estes Park called "Simply Christmas". I have loved collecting Christmas decorations since I was a kid, and for those who share my passion, this store is worthy of a trip to Estes Park all on its own. They have collectibles such as Charming Tales and December Diamonds as well as fun and funky decorations, too. Nothing makes a better souvenir than one of their hand lettered Estes Park decorations!  (And I LOVE stores with dogs...) Click here to check out their website!  they are located right in the middle of Estes Park in one of the old original log buildings...,

Greetings from Estes Park! We are lucky to live in Estes Park, Colorado for a lot of reasons...majestic mountain scenery, abundant wildlife, accessible hiking and photography opportunities and easy access to "front range" communities. One of the local health provider resources that are a terrific asset to our small town is Spencer Family Chiropractic, owned by Jill and Grant Spencer, a husband and wife team of chiropractors. Dr.s Jill and Grant provide wellness classes in addition to Gonstead Chiropractic care. Click here to view their website! Jill and Grant Spencer are excellent care providers, whether you are a kid coming back from a rather extreme snowboarding trip, or an 85 year old with some aches and pains. If you're in Estes Park and you need a good chiropractor, give them a call!

Great temperatures equated into a record crowd for the Estes Park Christmas Parade.  There wasn't a parking place left in town!  There were more people in town for the Christmas Parade this year than there were for the 4th of July fireworks which is one of the town's premier events. For those of you familiar with Estes Park, and the Stanley Village Shopping Center the parking lot was full, and parking behind the buildings was not only full, but peopel were parking in front of exit/entrance doors to the shops. The Parade always end with Santa Claus, and this year it wasn't Rollie was it?  He and Linda were some place even warmer. Have a great week - Gerald Mayo - Mr. Estes Park

Greetings from Estes Park! Our annual "Holiday House" event was attended by huge crowds anxious for great deals on gifts that will benefit the Estes Park Medical Center. The Elizabeth Guild was established in the 1970 to be a fundraising entity for the local hospital. During the first 30 years, the Elizbeth Guild raised nearly 2.5 milliion dollars! Click here to see more about the Elizabeth Guild... Our Village Jazz Band always plays Big Band Christmas music in the lobby for the shopper's enjoyment...and ours, too!

Greetings from Estes Park! This year our holiday parade was enjoyed by record crowds...partly due to absolutely perfect weather. It was great to see everyone on Elkhorn Avenue enjoying the floats, lights and bands! And speaking of bands, the Estes Park High School Band looked fantastic in their new uniforms and Santa hats!

The staging of the Estes Park Colorado's Christmas Parade is quite the orchestration.  It takes the Estes Park Police Department, the Larimer County Sherriff's Department, and countless Volunteers from the community.   The floats have to be placed in the order that they will appear in the parade dispersing bands, cars, and dancers between the floats.  The West end of Elkhorn Avenue acts as the "staging" area for the parade, but must also maintain traffic flow for the community and the thousands of visitors that come to view the parade.   This 1940's Chrysler "Woody" depicts a picture of an era gone by.  This Chrysler has 47,000 miles on it, and has never left the state of Colorado.  This is almost a Norman Rockwell of a family that drove out to the country to cut their own family Christ...

Gretings from Estes Park! Tonight is our annual "Catch the Glow" parade down Elkhorn Avenue that kicks off our holiday season here in the mountains. This will be AJ's first time marching in the parade with the Bobcat marching band...in their NEW uniforms...so we're all excited about that! Tomorrow is the Holiday House shopping event at the Holiday Inn...sort of a holiday flea market event that benefits the Elizabeth Guild here in town. I'll be playing with the Village Jazz Band in the lobby from 9AM to 10:30, hopefully we will get everyone in a jazzy holiday mood!

Estes Park Turkeys   Yes, as strange as it may seem, Estes Park does have its very own flock of wild turkeys.  I thought I'd include a couple of shots of these beautiful wild birds for you Thanksgiving enjoyment.   Here is wishing you all a lot to be thankful for this year, and blessings for next year.

Jesus stands proudly at the West end of Elkhorn Avenue in Estes Park Colorado.  The twenty foot Icon has proudly graced the West end of Elkhorn Avenue in Estes Park Colorado for over fifty years. Buell Porter constructed, painted, and donated the figure to the town along with many other figures for Christmas in the 50's.  Buell was a retired Coca Cola sign painter.  In the 40's and 50's even early 60's the technology for a "Billboard" was to have a sign painter get on a ladder and paint it.  Upon retirement to Estes Park, Buell decided to pep up the town a little bit with his work. Jesus is showing some wear and tear, and will probably be retired this year.  Upon retirement he will be donated to the Estes Park Historical Museum.  Don't worry, there will be a new Icon to replace the olde...

Greetings from Estes Park! I really miss my dog. I mean, REALLY. No more walks through the forest, soft doggie ears or the slap of a happy tail. I can hardly wait to get a couple more puppies and start all over! There is, however, one benefit to not having a big bad forest patrol kind of dog roaming in the backyard. The deer have taken to snuggling up in the sunshine and being generally adorable. The bucks come through now and again, but mostly there are two fawns and their mom. They really like the soft green grass under the snow for snacks. i will miss them when I get my big bad puppies!

Greetings from Estes Park! We sometimes hear the phrase, "Buyers are Liars"...referring to the tendency of buyers to give us their list of "gotta haves" and they end up buying something completely different. I think it's a matter of digging deep enough to find that ONE THING on their list that is the most important, the thing that could override everything else on the list. I just closed a property with some buyers who wanted to live outside of town on a bit of acreage in a "cabin in the woods" sort of property. Know what we closed on? A split foyer house in town on a paved street with a lot and block legal description. Not exactly what we started out searching for, right? When it came right down to it, the primary issue was a great deal. A house that could use a facelift, things that a...

The National Association of Realtors Convention in San Diego was very good this year.  There were many new technologies that were unveiled at the convention as well as a lot of very good classes.  It is always a good experience getting to go to sunny California, meeting new people, learning new things, but there is no place like home.  I'm looking forward to getting back to my little corner of the world. NAR is a terrific place to network with other realtors from throughout the "Realtor" network.  You would think that there would be 50 state representation at NAR.  It is so much more than that.  One of the classes I attended approximately 40% of the attendees were from other countries.  It is truly amazing to be able to talk to agents from as many foreign countries as you can imagine th...

Greetings from Estes Park! Where would the real estate industry be without great contractors to fix all those things in the inspection notice that HAVE to be done before closing??? I have a closing tomorrow that just wouldn't have happened without some of these guys and I just wanted to say "Thanks" to them...Gary and Goody at Mountain Valley Plumbing and Heating, Ken Schwarz of Flash Electric, Earl McCrea of McCrea Excavation. We are lucky here in Estes Park to have a wonderful group of local contractors who have been in town a long time and whom we can call upon when that inspection notice pops up with a few surprises. They show up with their trucks, tools and equipement and we can breathe a sigh of relief. THANKS!

Greetings from snowy Estes Park, Yesterday was an exciting day for our band kids and their director, Chuck Varilek. The new uniforms that were ordered in the springtime arrived in enormous boxes on a pallet during band rehearsal. We will be able to get the kids fitted and into their uniforms before the "Catch the Glow" parade that happens the day after Thanksgiving, so the seniors will be able to march in these once before they graduate. I'm thinking we may show them off in the upcoming holiday concert, too!

Greetings! Thanks to some great volunteers, including our very first pediatrician who is now retired, the Estes Park school system was able to offer H1N1 shots to kids between 5 and 18 years of age. All three boys were immunized, which was great news for my oldest son, AJ. He is one of the high risk kids with Type 1 Diabetes and asthma. Until this week, no vaccines were available. We are very grateful for everyone who helped immunize the kids and to the Estes Park school system and our nurse, Theresa Oja, who made this opportunity possible for us. As you can see, everyone came through with flying colors! As always, to keep yourself healthy, wash your hands, use hand sanitizer when washing is not convenient and USE YOUR OWN PEN!
