I have written before about how wonderful it is to have the High Line Canal so close by to my home in Highlands Ranch. I often ride my bike on the canal trail and we take family trips on the trail as well. And from time to time I visit the trail from starting points other than my norm.    Last Sunday, Father's Day, was one of those times and we took the camera along as well.  We rode from the trail entry at The Highlands Ranch Golf Club to Writer's Vista Park - not an extraordinary long trip by any means, but this was a bit of a leisurely ride on a hot afternoon.  We stopped to enjoy the view, look at flowers, rabbits, and even bugs (hey - that's kids for you.) and there was even some tree climbing involved.  And of course there was plenty of water breaks as well.   The High Line Canal ...

You are probably as irritated as the rest of us at the price of gas.  Around town its nearing the $4.00 mark and I hear a few places in the Denver area have now surpassed that.  Here is a quick & easy way to find out where in the Denver area has the cheap(er)(est) gas prices on any given day at any given time. Go to Denver's page of Gas Buddy. Throughout the 13+ years that I have lived in Highlands Ranch (moved here in 1995 from the south east Denver area) I have been practicing real estate in different capacities.  But the majority of time at least 75% of my business has been in Highlands Ranch.  With that in mind, you can imagine that over the years I have heard it all in regards to development speculations.  And quite frankly, most of it doesn't phase me anymore.  I have heard it all and the majority of it has always been rumors. The annual Taste of Highlands Ranch will take place next week on Friday, May 9th from 6 - 9pm at the Eastridge Recreation Center. Every year the annual event benefits a local charity or organization and this years recipient in the Highlands Ranch Chapter of The Children's Hospital.   The Children's Hospital is near and dear to my own family's heart as over the years we have spent some time there.  When my daughter was only 3 weeks old, she was at Children's for a while, my son had his tonsils out there last year and we have even spent some time at their new location near Fitzsimons in Aurora..  We have had numerous appointment at the satellite locations, including the Highlands Ranch office on County Line Rd. The Annual Farmers Market in Highlands Ranch will begin tomorrow, Sunday, May 4th.  Located in the  Highlands Ranch Town Center Square green area,  its become a regular stop for my own family every year.  I also find that my children are more willing to try new veggies when they see them up close like that and even chat with some of the local farmers from time to time. The Highlands Ranch Farmers market runs every Sunday from May 4th to October 26th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. This won't be my usual Denver real estate post - but it is in its own way. I live here and I work here and this is my Earth Day post. I have to admit in the now distant past I haven't been the most aware when it comes to "green" & environmentally friendly. And I am not by any means claiming to be the be-all know-all on this. In fact I do have much room for improvement in both my business & my family life. But I am trying. Some of the things that I have done in the past few years include - being an avid recycle-er at home. We have become quite good at recycling everything we can - and eliminating the waste to begin with. We have also started making the switch to florescent bulbs.
