Highlands Ranch neighborhood & Douglas County School District opens Stone Mountain Elementary The doors are set to open today for the Community Open House of Stone Mountain Elementary in the Weatherstone Neighborhood of Highlands Ranch.  Back in April, I showed you some early photos of the building as it was being constructed.  Today, January 5th,  at 1:30pm,  a Community Open House will be held so everyone can see how beautiful this new school is.   The students have been attending school this year at a temporary location and will begin the second half of the year next week at Stone Mountain.   I have to say, the building is very nice.  I have heard nothing but great things and it has been designed to be more environmentally friendly that other schools in the district.  Stone Mountain ...

After speaking on the phone & by email lately with some of you that have been searching for Highlands Ranch homes, I am realizing that one of the things people are getting a lot of from my posts are the neighborhood profiles.  Especially if someone is relocating from another part of the country (or another country all together) it is helpful to be able to really read about different neighborhoods, see links to local places nearby, and look at photos of the neighborhood and many pictures of Highlands Ranch.  With that in mind, here is a list I compiled of many of the Highlands Ranch neighborhoods.  You will see many have links to profiles I have written, others are still to come. If a particular area interests you, let me know and we can narrow your search to that location.  You can sear...

We have completed our 1st annual Halloween Candy Buy Back - Cash for Candy here in Highlands Ranch CO and it was a success. Eventhough we put this event together in the last minute we collected over 200 lbs of candy. That is a lot of candy!!! We initially put all the candy in large buckets, but they were too heavy to carry anywhere so we have been dividing them to more manageable portions and started distributing them to the local charities. We will be dropping of the rest of the candy by the end of the week to couple of local shelters and if we still have some left over (some places only want so much candy), we will package it and mail it to the troops in Iraq. Thank you so much for everybody who participated in this Cash for Candy event. Your participation was greatly appreciated. To s...

Living in Highlands Ranch has it perks. I often think how lucky I am to be living in such great community and surrounded by natural beauty. I get to live near trails and parks, and enjoy many, many amenities that Highlands Ranch Community has to offer.I am only minutes away from some great trails that connect Highlands Ranch - starting near Rock Canyon High School and Rocky Heights Middle School - to Daniels Gate and Castle Pines North. This trails were just connected last summer. The trail is called Douglas County East West Trail. The views from top of the cliffs are beautiful. If you are driving on Monarch heading toward Castle Rock or Castle Pines North, stop and take a look, you won't be disappointed.   Disclaimer: Kenna and Co. Just an average evening in Highlands Ranch, CO  One of the reasons that I have taken a liking to my blog is the ability that I have to show potential Highlands Ranch home owners a variety of photos of the area.  You see - I live here in Highlands Ranch, work here (a lot) and hang out here, play with my kids here - and therefore have ample opportunity to take a variety of photos of life in Highlands Ranch. Here is what I think of as a great photo of a recent full moon in Highlands Ranch.  This is not the one we had just this week, but rather last month, in September.  So many photos of the Denver area focus on the beauty of the mountains.  But there is beauty in many things in the area, this is just one.

The Indigo Hill neighborhood is located in Highlands Ranch, CO - Douglas County.  Indigo Hill is the Southridge area of Highlands Ranch and is located at the northwest corner of Broadway and Wildcat Ridge Parkway.  It runs north about 1/4 mile and west 1/2 mile.  Here is a google map of Indigo Hill.  The zip code for the Indigo Hill neighborhood in Highlands Ranch is 80129.  The homes in Indigo Hill, Highlands Ranch are built by Village Homes and were mostly built in the late 1990's and into the early 2000's.  The homes in the neighborhood have a wide range depending on many factors but currently range from approximately $250,000 to $550,000 (# are for single family homes).  Some of the determining price factors are size of lot, upgrades in the home, cul-de-sac location, backing to open...

Highlands Ranch Homes and Real Estate - What's the Scoop with the Views and the Land? Often when I have a buyer considering relocating to Highlands Ranch, they will specify that they don't want anyone behind them, meaning another house.  Sometimes they will be as specific as wanting to be on a greenbelt, on a park, have a mountain view or something of that nature.  But it can be confusing - so here is a low down. Mountain Views- Let's tackle this one first.  First of all, if you search mountain view in the Denver MLS, you are going to find lots of properties.  Many of these will just have peek-a-book views.  If you are truly looking for  full range mountain views - you need to be more specific and know you will need to weed out many properties - and chances are likely you will need to d...

Highlands Ranch's Traditional Trick-Or-Treat Street is This Weekend If you still have room in your schedule for tomorrow, I suggest you get the little gremlins in their Halloween costumes a bit early and head over to the always fun Trick or Treat Street.  I remember my very first visit to Trick-Or Treat Street in Highlands Ranch, I don't think my own son could have been more than 2.  He loved roaming through the aisles of tables - loads of local business handing out candy to all of the little ones.  We have been back many times since and I can bet your little ones will love it too. Trick-Or-Treat Street is Saturday, October 27thfrom 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Eastridge Recreation Center.  The cost is $1.00 for trick-or-treaters and they will each get a pumpkin to bring home. I suggest ge...

The way I see it, everyone in town is going to be watching the Rockies tonight (and let's face it - even those that aren't that into this will most likely still be flipping back and forth just to see) and we all have several of the same options.  1.  You could go to the game.  If you have tickets that is.  Of course, technically, the game is sold out.  You could still try your luck at Craigslist or just call some brokers I suppose, but prices are handsome for the game if you can even find what you want.  If you do go, bundle up - although we won't see rain tonight, it may even be chillier than last night.  2.  Hang out at home.  Invite some friends over or just hang out with your family - or if you happen to be an AZ transplant, you may want to watch in solitude.  It could get sad for y...

How did Highlands Ranch do in September? Highlands Ranch finished September very strong relative to all of the "Sky is Falling" news in Real Estate lately. Our average price for a sold home in Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree combined increased quite a bit from the end of August. We started September at about $343k and finished at about $383k. Although we had fewer sales in September than we did in August, that is a typical seasonal pattern. I generally help home sellers understand that when the number of new listings decreases at the same time the number of under contract homes increase-- it's a good time to list their home to sell. That happened twice in September in Highlands Ranch. The second week of September we had a good dip in new listings while 3 weeks in a row our new under contr...
