The Fritz Alpine Bistro has closed after five incredible years in River Run Village at Keystone Resort.  Vail Resorts decided not to renew their lease for another term.  While Fritz was disappointed with Vail's decision, they are very thankful to have met, entertained and become personal friends with so many over the years.Moving Forward. Well it looks like the ski season is about o get under way, Keystone ski Resort has moved up thier opening day. The Colorado Rockies recieved quite a bit of snow in October and the resort is ready for action. The opening is set for this coming Friday. Keystone will start the season off by opening the River Run Gondola. Skiers and riders will be delivered up to the top of the mountain relishing the goods on ski runs such as Sprin Dipper and Wild Irishman. The Summit Express chair lift will open as well alon with the Montezuma Express and and the A-51 Terrain Park. The mountain will open from 9am to 4 pm and adult lift tickets will be $59.00  Copper Mountain Resort will also kick off the season on Friday with an 18 inch base and top to bottom riding. 11/01/2007

Keystone ski resort was started in the 1950s and 60s by a few Tenth Mountain Division veterans who designed and built both Arapaho Basin and Keystone ski areas, with A Basin being first.  Max and Edna Dercum are known as the founders of Keystone, and Edna has written a wonderful little book about their experiences in Summit County called "It's Easy, Edna, it's Downhill all the Way".  They are also featured on one of our Summit Stage busses which is named Max and Edna and has their photos on the side.  Keystone is a wonderful family resort, with good beginner hills, great intermediate skiing and some nice glades and steeps for the more advanced skiers.  Now owned by Vail Resorts, Keystone has had considerable real estate development at its base area, and has some very nice condos at reas... 05/28/2007
