Lone Tree, Colorado ~ A Denver 'burb...Hometown pride is important. We all have our reasons and they will be a unique and different as each individual. It's a healthy thing to feel good about the town one lives in.Lone Tree is my home town. I like the community's convenient location to I-25 and E-470. In my business being able to hop on a freeway and be someplace else is important. I am also impressed by the way the community is growing. There is a plan. We have a Mayor and council. We have our own great police force. We have a world class, nearly new hospital, Sky Ridge. We have Nordstroms (almost) but we do have Park Meadows Mall and a very cool light rail train to take us to downtown Denver and back.My favorite haunt is the Starbucks on Yosemite, or the one in Safeway, or Target, or...

I love construction sites.  It must be in my blood, my Father raised us four kids and put food on the table as a mason contractor.  He built things with concrete and brick.  He built things to last for the ages.  I fondly recall the pride showing in his eyes as he would point out the places he built.  What a feeling it must be to take something from nothing to something.Builders do it everyday. I bet their kids take pride in them as I do in my Dad's work.  He made me proud my whole life long.Perhaps that is why I love construction sites.  Watching the emptiness turn into something is fascinating.   I love following the construction process.  It never ceases to amaze me how a million pieces can almost magically come together to create a building or a house.  It is truly a talent to be ab...

Ever wonder why things happen the way they do? I am always amazed at certain things.  For instance our new Light Rail line just opened last week.  The service is running well, but...The Light Rail goes by the Park Meadows Mall.  It's one of the area's most popular malls, people come from miles around to visit.  The Light Rail has a stop at the County Line Station, it's even on the same side of the interstate as the mall, but you can't get to the mail from this stop.I was poking around at the County Line Light Rail Station taking a few photos.    While I was there and despite the multiple signs indicating there was no access from this station to the mall, two young women asked me, "how do I get to the Mall?"This problem has been widely discussed in the media.  The funniest accounting cam...

My heart skipped a beat today as I approached my favorite mall at Park Meadows in Lone Tree.  The demolition  had begun on the Lord and Taylor store, it looked like the setting of a bombing. No, it isn't a terrorist attack, just an economic decision to tear down a perfectly good store to replace it with an outdoor walking mall.  The soon to be gone store is less than 10 years old!  It was a beautifully done department store whose demise came along after it was sold to a competitor (I think Macy's) that is already at the mall.  Instead of having two stores of the same company in the mall, it has to go.This got me to thinking about my personal "highest and best use."  I know what I should be doing, but am I doing it?  Well most of the time yes, but in reality, I should be doing more.Focusi...
