Great Indoors goes bye bye in Lone Tree CO. For well over a decade the Great Indoors has been a great place to find all sorts of things for the home from building to improvement to decorating etc. I was shocked to say the least when I was near there over the weekend only to see someone on the corner holding a "Going out of business" sign and it then mentioned for The Great Indoors!?!? Of course I had to stop over there and to my surprise not only was there still a good deal of items available but everything and I mean everything is reduced on pricing and they are even selling all their fixture/display items! Denver Relocation Info: And The Wild Winds Blow   There are 2 things I have found over the years about Denver winters that are surprising to my Denver relocation clients. #1) That we aren't always buried in cold & snow from November through March.  We covered that a bit lately, so I won't really cover that again today.  #2) The second being the wind.  When we get our warmer temps and the mountains are getting a good deal of snow, it can tend to be very windy here on the front range.  I am not meteorologist by any means so I won't bore you with the science of it - but it is part of what keeps us dry and relatively warm.  Is it windy every day in the winter?  No.  But there can be some that are a bit more windy than others and perhaps beyond comfort of wanting to hang outside all day.  To... 02/19/2011

The past few weeks it seems the country has been having extreme weather.  Freezing temps in Scottsdale alarm and entertain residents as their fountains turn to ice. At the Super Bowl in Texas they are dealing with cold unlike they have seen in recent years. Chicago officials had to rescue people on Lake Shore Drive using snowmobiles!  Finally Denver got a taste of winter as our temps dropped well below freezing for a few nights in a row.  Now the snow flakes are falling leaving the beauty of innocent snow covering the land. Arctic cold temperatures descended upon Metro Denver today.  Last week I was rejoicing in 69 degree weather and now we are at 2 degrees and expected to fall below ZERO tonight and for the next few days! Burr! I got to spend the day in a nice warm court house, while doing my civic duty.  Yes, I finally won a lottery,  I get to be a juror this week! It was an interesting day to say the least.  We recessed early and on the way home while it was still daylight I noticed my favorite local homestead the Schweiger Homestead.   I enjoy watching this charming old ranch that is now being restored.  I've taken images of it in all seasons, but winter is probably my most favorite. Lone Tree Winter Fun Bus Kicks Off This Weekend Lone Tree has a wonderful way to get to the mountains called the Winter Fun Bus and it kicks off for the season this weekend. Run through South Suburban Parks and Rec, SSPRD residents can hitch a ride without having to worry about driving to the mountain for just $28. The Winter Fun Bus is open to non residents as well but for a tad more, $33. Kids 12 & Under must be accompanied by an adult, but teens 13 & up can go without. I've spoken a bit recently about Open Enrollment and School of Choice in Colorado but there is another school related deadline coming up that you need to be aware of if you have young ones and you have recently moved to Douglas County. Kindergarten Enrollment is generally in January for the following year, and that is no exception for 2011 - 2012 school year. Douglas County School District holds kindergarten enrollment at each school, all at their own times that range from 1/10 - 1/31.
