 Winter Carnival 2.5 weeks away! Good news to report on the higher end sales in Steamboat. There were 3 Edgemont condos that closed ranging from $1.632-2.564m as well as another One Steamboat Place 1/8th fractional for $605k. These closing illustrate the demand for slopeside luxury and since Steamboat has a fairly small footprint of slopeside opportunities, these are experiencing some healthy interest. Speaking of slopeside properties, the top pick in my mind is still available for $7.995m. Over the Edge is a property to be seen!   This doesn't have much to do with real estate, other than this is just one thing you might expect if you live in Steamboat! It was disclosed that there was a moose in the area, so of course with caution (because they can be super aggressive) a moose hunt ensued. After a short while, the subject was spotted. Big cow laying down eating her curds and whey...then after some disruption from neighborhood dog and snowplow she stood up! Decided for a last chance photo op and then left her alone because she was large and I have many friends that have been charged. Not interested in starting out the new year that way! With a coating of new snow, the mountain will open tomorrow for Scholarship Day which is considered the official opening day to ski area. Tickets cost $20 and proceeds go to Winter Sports Club. Info from Explore Steamboat:  "Last year's Scholarship Day drew about 1,000 skiers, Kasten said, and through the years, the event has raised more than $500,000 for the Winter Sports Club. The event began in the 1991-92 season. Season ski passes are not accepted on Scholarship Day, and lift tickets costs $20.
